How can eBay sellers resolve unpaid item case disputes? EBay Unpaid Dispute Resolution

Generally speaking, the process of trading with buyers on eBay is very simple and convenient. But occasionally, you will encounter the situation that the buyer has not paid the bill amount after he/she has snapped the item. If so, first try to contact the buyer to solve this problem. If necessary, eBay will step in to help.

The following is the basic process to deal with the buyer's outstanding payment:

1. Actively contact the buyer first to understand the reason why the buyer failed to pay. Many times, buyers just don't notice that he/she has won the auction, or they don't know how much logistics costs are needed, or how to complete the payment. You can find the corresponding products in the awarding payment column under the Orders tab of the seller hub, and click the 'Contact buyer' in the 'Action' to contact the buyer.

2. Send an invoice to the buyer to remind him/her to pay. See how to send invoice.

If the buyer still does not respond after you contact the buyer and send the invoice, you can:

1. If the product has been sold for more than 2 days (less than 32 days), you can start an Unpaid item case (UPI case), that is, an unpaid dispute, to let eBay know that you have encountered a problem and hope to start formal settlement of the dispute. There are several ways to set up:

l Seller hub > Orders > Awaiting Payment > Actions > Open Unpaid item

l My eBay > Account > Resolution Center > Resolve a problem > I haven’t received my payment yet

2. After you open the unpaid dispute, the buyer has 4 days to respond to the payment. On the fifth day, if you still haven't received the payment from the buyer, you can go to the 'Resolution center', that is, the dispute mediation center, manually close the case, and select 'NO' in the 'Receive payment from the buyer' column. In this way, this unpaid dispute will be closed, and the final value fee will be returned to you. You can republish the product, and this unpaid dispute will be recorded in the buyer's account. It is important to manually close unpaid disputes. If you have not manually closed the case on the 36th day, eBay will automatically close the dispute, but will not return the final value fee to you, and the unpaid record will not be recorded in the buyer's account.

TIP: ebay recommends that you deliver the products after the payment is received.

Use the Unpaid Item Assistant

If you are a professional seller, you can use the 'Unpaid Item Assistant', that is, the UPI small assistant, to automatically manage the outstanding payments. In this way, when the buyer does not pay, the UPI assistant can automatically help you open and close the unpaid dispute to save your time. The final value fee cannot be returned because you forget to close the dispute.

The method to open the UPI caddy is as follows:

1. Enter 'Site preferences' under the Account tab in My eBay
