Qorvo Single Chip BMS Solution
Zhang Yichi said that both the household, industrial and automotive fields are developing towards battery power supply, bringing new opportunities to the industry, and also contributing to Qorvo's investment in BMS products.At present, the first generation BMS product launched by Qorvo can support 145V input voltage at most.
Qorvo launched the first intelligent motor control product with high integration as early as 2013. In 2015, Qorvo's motor drive products gradually expanded to 40V~70V and 600V AC direct drive platforms, in 2017, it expanded to 160V motor drive platforms, and in 2018, it added M4 core products to meet the requirements of high computing capacity. In 2021, Qorvo completed the layout of the whole line of motor drive products,From 40V to 70V, 160V to 600V, more than 30 products are launched on the whole line platform.In 2023, Qorvo's first BMS product has been mass produced.

Qorvo's BMS single-chip solution mainly includes the following six functions and features: charging and discharging, monitoring and power calculation, core equalization, short circuit protection, overcharge and discharge protection, and low power consumption.

At present, Qorvo's first generation BMS chips are mainly composed of PAC22140 and PAC25140. The analog front ends of the two chips are identical and both support 20 strings of battery pack management.
The main difference between the two chips lies in the MCU part. PAC22140 is equipped with a 50MHz Arm Cortex M0 core, 32KB flash memory and 8KB SRAM, while PAC25140 is equipped with a 150MHz Arm Cortex M4F core, 128kB flash memory and 32kB SRAM, with stronger performance and more functions, which customers can choose according to actual needs.
The chip can be divided into four parts: top, bottom, left and right. The upper part of the chip integrates power management related logic. Customers can complete the power design only by deploying passive devices such as capacitors and inductors in the design, effectively reducing the research and development time.The right side of the chip is integrated with 20 series of core input terminals, which can be directly taken over by the chip.The lower end of the chip is the MCU part, which can design necessary peripherals.
