James Vreeland—a man based in Detroit—has always been a fan of animals, but during the quarantine, he’s taken feeding the local wildlife to a whole new level. Having a lot of free time during self-isolation, he crafted an entire tiny restaurant for the squirrels and birds living near his home. Even more so, he made a little menu for them, where they can choose their meals from several different options. Scroll down below to see the fancy Maison du Noix!

The recently-opened restaurant was also given a fancy French name—Maison du Noix—that translates to “The Nut House.” “We’ve been offering an opening course of a seed medley, followed by peanuts on the full shell, house-cut breadsticks, and a dessert of counter-softened apples,” the restaurant owner James Vreeland told one media outlet.

In the photo below you can see the cozy entrance to the Maison de Noix equipped with a tiny stall and a menu. According to James, the local wildlife seems to love the menu options. “The squirrels and blue jays have been loving it,” he told the media.

The mini open-air restaurant offers the following lunch options: mixed seed trio, stale bread/pizza crust, raw peanuts, and counter softened apples. The restaurant owner says that business at Maison du Noix is booming, despite the fact that it isn’t exactly bringing any profit to James.

“The response from humans has been pretty great with people stopping all the time to take a photo or watch the frenzy,” James Vreeland told the media.

While the business in this mini restaurant seems to be thriving

We used to feed squirrels, blue Jays, chickadees, hummingbirds and even raccoons on our balcony growing up. The squirrels and the blue Jays would get into some serious scraps.
