MRNA 5 'capping refers to the process of attaching a 7-methylguanosine (m7G) cap to the 5' end of a newly synthesized mRNA molecule. It is one of the key steps in eukaryotic gene expression and is crucial for the stability, output, translation and degradation of mRNA. The analysis of mRNA capping rate is a method to evaluate whether the 5 'end of mRNA molecule is modified by m7G caps. The analysis of mRNA capping rate not only plays an important role in basic biological research, but also has potential applications in disease diagnosis and treatment. For example, many diseases (including some types of cancer) are related to abnormalities in the process of mRNA capping, which is also a key component of modern mRNA vaccines, such as COVID-19 vaccine.
