From May 17 to 18, and from May 25 to 26, the Beijing Great Wall Concert will be held at the Great Wall Wangjing Cultural Plaza in Badaling. Singer Yin Xiumei, Russian pianist Dennis Mazuyev and other Chinese and Russian artists will join hands to present four world-class large-scale outdoor public benefit concerts for the audience. In the early summer, the Badaling Great Wall is a vast expanse of green water both inside and outside, and tourists from home and abroad come to the city in an endless stream. At the press conference of Badaling Great Wall Hotel and Great Wall Concert, the tenor Xue Haoyin of China Broadcasting Art Troupe, who had participated in the 2021 Beijing Great Wall Concert, brought the opera My Passion Waiting for You, and the young soprano Ma Fei, who was traveling in Europe, brought the Russian classic folk song Katyusha to the audience. 2024 Beijing Great Wall Concert is a tribute to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia and the opening year of the Sino Russian Cultural Year. It is also the third grand event of Beijing Great Wall Concert, a musical and cultural brand, since its establishment in 2021.
In the four days from May 17 to 18 and May 25 to 26, the Great Wall concert will be held once a day. Gu Xiaoyang, chairman of Beijing Yonglian Guangye Culture Co., Ltd., one of the sponsors, said that the performance on May 17 and 18 would be a "master burning night" for top artists from China and Russia to gather at the foot of the Great Wall. The famous Russian conductor Yuri Bashmet, who participated in the performance, is the artistic director of 15 music festivals around the world. Denis Mazuyev, a master figure of the Russian piano school, was praised as a "legendary piano master" by many European and American authoritative music critics. Yin Xiumei, a well-known soprano in China, will sing on the same stage as Abdelazakov, a Russian meritorious artist and the most popular bass singer in the world's opera field.
The performance on May 25 and 26 will be a rare "classic meets jazz". The Moscow Jazz Orchestra, led by the world famous saxophonist Igor Butman, has cooperated with many world-class jazz superstars and is known as the "Art Masters Orchestra". In this Great Wall concert, he will lead an 18 member orchestra to perform together with the New Russian National Symphony Orchestra. He will also climb the Great Wall at night to play his adapted Chinese music "The Descendants of the Dragon" and "China in the Lights".
The organizer introduced that the two music festival performances on May 18 and 25 will enable more audiences to feel the charm of the Great Wall concert through microblog live broadcast and aerial photography.
