"Beijing is an ancient capital of culture and art. There are many artists here, and we are where the artists are." At the beginning of March, the 35 year old Chengpin Gallery went out of Taiwan for the first time and opened a new space in Beijing 798 Art District, said Zhao Li, the executive director of Chengpin Gallery.
According to statistics, more than 20 new art institutions have settled in 798 Art District in the past year, including the Uruguayan Cultural Center, the Baishi Gallery, and the Chengpin Gallery. There are more high-quality art institutions in succession, making the "798", the golden card of Beijing's urban culture, more and more shining.
At the beginning of 2023, Synergy Space was established in 798 Art Zone. Lu Siwen, the gallery owner, had worked in two art galleries for eight years, including five or six years in 798 Art Zone. In her view, 798 Art District is an important settlement of domestic art ecology, which gathers large, medium and small galleries and art institutions.
"The name of our gallery represents the strength of artists' creation, the strength of art workers' industry, the strength of art collectors' market, and the strength of art lovers' public welfare. In 798 Art District, we can have links with various forces." Lu Siwen said that since its establishment one year ago, the Cooperation Space has held nearly 10 art exhibitions and launched a series of public art activities, It shows the diversified creative features of young artists.
The Bonian Art Space, which focuses on the artistic heritage of photography artist Luo Bonian, has unique advantages in the planning of photography art exhibitions. In 2023, Bonian Art Space opened its first exhibition in 798 Art District. "Many contemporary art institutions gather in the 798 Art District. The choice of Art Nouveau Space and many large art institutions coexist in the same area, which is convenient to attract many art lovers, and is also conducive to cooperation and exchanges with other art institutions, including international art exchanges." Mr. Jin, the person in charge of Bonian Art Space, said.
"As a young art space, most of the young artists we work with are also young artists. As young artists are in the initial stage of their art career, they need the support and promotion of Bole most, and need a stage to show themselves." Mr. Jin said, "798 Art District is the best art district in Beijing and even in China, and the starting point of many new galleries and young artists' dreams."
With the support of governments at all levels, 798 Art District has carried out many measures around the introduction and support of cultural and artistic resources, such as maintenance and upgrading of old industrial plants, providing rent concessions for top art resources, and supporting media publicity and promotion of the park's settled institutions.
As the founding unit of the national cultural industry demonstration park, 798 not only maintains the high-quality art industry ecology, but also takes the continuous optimization of the business environment as the key task of high-quality development. In recent two years, the art district has been comprehensively upgraded in landscape facilities, public space, property services and other dimensions. After the re planning of business type, space and industry, the pedestrian area has been expanded to nearly 100000 square meters. At the same time, seven public squares have been planned to provide more display space for cultural and artistic content.
The highly concentrated art formats and increasingly strong art atmosphere have attracted both art institutions and tourists from all over the world. According to statistics, 798 Art District will receive nearly 11 million tourists in 2023, a record high. More than 400 exhibition activities were held in the art district throughout the year.
