In the future, Metro Line 16 and Line 1 will be able to transfer at Muxidi Station!

Recently, the Beijing Public Resources Trading Service Platform released the Bidding Announcement for Civil Construction of Beijing Metro Line 16 and Line 1 Muxidi Station Transfer Project. The announcement shows that the civil construction of the transfer project between Metro Line 16 and Line 1 Muxidi Station has been approved by the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, and the project has met the bidding conditions. The total construction area of the transfer passage is 5457.14 square meters, the shield length is about 265 meters, and the planned construction period is 1074 days.

It is understood that Muxidi Station of Metro Line 16 has been opened in December 2022. However, due to the failure to open the transfer channel in the station at the same time, at present, virtual transfer is used between Muxidi Station of Line 16 and Muxidi Station of Line 1. After passengers swipe their cards out of the station, they can transfer by walking on the ground. When they enter the station again, they can enjoy continuous billing privileges without repeated deduction.

When Muxidi Station can open in station transfer has always been concerned by the general public. Previously, some citizens consulted relevant questions through the "Leader Message Board".

In November 2023, the Beijing Investment Corporation replied that the Muxidi Station of Line 1 was built early and no transfer was considered. The station is located to the east of the intersection of Sanlihe Road, and the Muxidi Station of Line 16 is located to the west of Sanlihe Road, which results in a long transfer distance between the two stations. Since there are many major pipelines, important buildings and structures around Chang'an Street, as well as near Chang'an Street, the construction is difficult. The design unit and construction unit will overcome the complex difficulties of the moat and surrounding pipelines and study the transfer channel scheme in Muxidi Station. (Li Bo)
