The common pathogens of respiratory infectious diseases include coronavirus, influenza virus, mycoplasma pneumonia, respiratory syncytial virus, etc. They are mainly transmitted through respiratory droplets, inhalation of aerosol with pathogens or close contact. Wearing masks scientifically is an effective measure to prevent respiratory infectious diseases. These Guidelines are formulated to guide the public to wear masks scientifically and effectively protect public health.

1、 Situations or scenarios where masks should be worn

1. People infected with respiratory infectious diseases such as COVID-19 infection, influenza, mycoplasma pneumoniae infection, respiratory syncytial virus infection go to indoor public places or have close contact with others (the distance is less than 1 meter, the same below).

2. People who have symptoms of respiratory infectious diseases such as fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, muscle ache, fatigue, etc., go to indoor public places or have close contact with others.

3. When going to medical institutions for medical treatment, accompanying, nursing and visiting.

4. During the period of high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases, when outsiders enter the elderly care institutions, social welfare institutions, kindergartens and other places where vulnerable people gather.

5. During the period of high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases, the working period of public service personnel such as medical care, catering, cleaning and security personnel in key institutions such as pension institutions, social welfare institutions, kindergartens and schools.

2、 Situations or scenarios where wearing masks is recommended

1. During the period of high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases, when taking public transportation such as planes, trains, long-distance buses, ships, subways, buses, etc.

2. During the period of high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases, when entering the supermarket, theater, passenger terminal, van elevator and other places with closed environment and dense population.

3. During the period of high incidence of respiratory infectious diseases, the elderly, patients with chronic basic diseases, pregnant women, etc. go to indoor public places.

4. During the period of studying, living or working together with those who have symptoms of respiratory infectious diseases.

3、 Common situations or scenarios where it is recommended not to wear masks

1. When doing physical exercises.

2. In outdoor places such as open squares and parks.

Infants and children under 3.3 years old.

4、 Mask selection

1. Respiratory infectious disease patients or those with respiratory infectious disease symptoms are recommended to wear N95 or KN95 particulate protective masks (without breathing valve) or medical protective masks, and other personnel are recommended to wear disposable medical masks or surgical masks.

2. Children with respiratory infectious disease or respiratory infectious disease symptoms are recommended to use child protective masks, and other children are recommended to use child hygiene masks.

3. Respirator products shall comply with relevant national standards or industry standards.

5、 Other precautions

1. Individuals can choose whether to wear masks according to their own health status and needs, and pay attention to timely replacement.

2. Patients with cardiopulmonary dysfunction should wear masks under the guidance of doctors.

3. Local disease control departments should timely and dynamically release the epidemic situation of local respiratory infectious diseases and remind the public to wear masks scientifically.
