What is the initial adhesion of the tape?

The initial adhesion of adhesive tape, also known as quick stick or initial adhesion, is not a simple performance, but a comprehensive performance of the chemical and physical properties of the surface of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer when it contacts the object to be adhered.

The user's perception of the initial adhesion of the tape originates from the stickiness felt by gently touching the tape surface for a short time and quickly pulling it apart with his fingers, which is also called hand stickiness.

The difficulty, speed and strength of adhesive surface can be easily and quickly perceived through direct contact of fingers; But this kind of judgment is too subjective, and can not be a good quantitative judgment of the initial viscosity performance.

Test method of initial adhesion force: quick stripping method

The loop tack test method of adhesive tape (GB No.: GBT-31125-2014) is a force that can quickly peel and separate the adhesive material after a very slight pressure and a very short time of contact.

Test method: use 25 mm wide and 300 mm long tape, bend it into a circular tape ring with the adhesive surface outward, and hang it on the Tensile machine When the adhesive surface is in contact with the surface of the stainless steel plate placed horizontally below at a speed of 300 mm/min, the adhesive is formed by its own gravity. After the adhesive area reaches 25 X 25 mm ^ 2, stop falling, stay for 30 seconds, and then the tension machine clamp rises at 300 mm/min, record the maximum force required for stripping, in N.

The advantages of this test method are that it is sticky to the touch, no special equipment, and simple to operate; The disadvantage is that the softness and thickness of the tape have a great impact on the test results.

Factors affecting initial adhesion performance

There are many factors affecting the initial adhesion performance during the test, including test conditions Adherent And the surface tension of the adhesive layer, the roughness of the surface of the substrate and the adherend Pressure sensitive adhesive Its own nature, etc.

1) Test conditions

The contact pressure has a great influence on the test results. Increasing the contact pressure is conducive to the flow of pressure sensitive adhesive; For the tape with smooth substrate, the initial adhesion force increases rapidly with the increase of contact pressure; For tapes with rough substrates, such as cloth, the initial adhesion force increases slowly with the increase of contact pressure.

The longer the contact time, the more conducive to wetting, and the higher the initial adhesion.

The higher the separation speed, the higher the initial viscosity.

For the tape with smooth surface at the test temperature, the touch bonding method is greatly affected by the temperature, 30~40C, and the initial bonding force is the largest. The cohesive strength of the adhesive higher than 50C decreases, and the initial bonding force also decreases. For the tape with rough surface, the initial adhesion does not change significantly with temperature.

2) Surface tension of adherend and adhesive

3) Properties of pressure sensitive adhesive

4) Surface roughness of substrate and adherend
