Instagram's "recently deleted" function may allow users to change their idea of deleting posts

The company is introducing a "recently deleted" function in the application, which allows users to review the content they have deleted, including photos, videos, IGTV videos and stories, and restore them. Instagram positions this function as helping to defend against hackers, especially when hackers gain account control and start deleting content. From Tuesday, users need to confirm that they are the account owner through text or email to permanently delete or restore content.

The deleted item will stay in the folder for 30 days. If it is not processed, it will be automatically deleted after this time point. However, deleted stories are an exception: they will only stay in the recently deleted part for 24 hours before being permanently deleted. To access this folder, the user needs to navigate to Settings>Account>Recently deleted.

Obviously, Instagram wants to give users a chance to retain content before permanently deleting it. This application has provided an archive, or a way to retain posts without making them public.
