VIVE locator base station strong brush firmware rescue brick/upgrade tutorial

We got a set of Vive kits and two first generation VIVE positioning base stations. After receiving the power supply, it is found that a positioning base station does not work and becomes a brick with a weak red light. This article mainly explains how to save bricks. The principle of firmware upgrade is the same.

Brick forming status of red light of VIVE positioning base station

A brick locator looks like this from the front (please ignore the dust on the surface, which is all gray on the ceiling):

It can be seen that there is a weak red light on the front, and there is no A, B, C status mark on the lower left corner, and there is no red light emitting from the array in the middle area.

Touch the positioner by hand and find that the internal motor does not rotate.

Save the Base Station with Red Lights

First, unplug the power cable of the locator, and use the USB cable to connect the computer and the locator.

Press and hold the status switch key behind the locator, and insert the locator power supply.

Wait for the computer named CRP DISABLD Connected memory for:

Put the firmware.bin Delete and copy the new firmware to memory (firmware download is at the end of the article).

Unplug the locator power cable and USB connection cable, and reinsert the power cable.

When the positioner is powered on, it will automatically read the new firmware, and then the positioner can work normally.

I only have version 1.0 positioner firmware in my hand, and here we provide:
