Introduction to Journal of Physics

The Journal of Physics was sponsored by the Chinese Physical Society. It was originally called "Chinese Journal of Physics" in 1933. At the beginning of its publication, it was written in English, French and German. This is the first comprehensive academic journal of physics published in China. In 1953, it became the current Chinese journal.

The Journal of Physics and "CHINESEPHYSICS" (Chinese Physics) are comprehensive international academic monthly journals of physics sponsored by the Chinese Physical Society and edited by the editorial board and editorial department of the Journal of Physics. The two journals publish the latest achievements of creative scientific research in various fields of physics that have not been published publicly at home and abroad. The content includes theories, experimental techniques and applications in various fields of physics. The contents of the two journals are not repeated.

Although China Physics is a new publication, it has published many excellent research papers and research bulletins in physics. It is highly valued by physicists at home and abroad because of its high level of papers, strong innovation and fast publishing speed. According to the statistics of journals included in SCI by the American Information Institute (ISI), the influence factor of Chinese Physics is increasing year by year. In the era of knowledge innovation, the Journal of Physics and China Physics meet new challenges. On the one hand, the editorial department selects excellent contributions from the contributions, on the other hand, it actively organizes excellent contributions, and further improves the quality of contributions. The editorial department of the journal of physics overcame difficulties and continued to reform. The average publishing cycle of the Journal of Physics has been shortened from 12 months to about 6 months, and that of the Chinese Journal of Physics has been shortened to about 6 months. The average publishing cycle of papers and research bulletins that need to be published first in the two journals has been shortened to about 3 months, or even shorter, At present, the average publication cycle of the two journals is the shortest among similar journals.

The first chief editor of the Journal of Physics was Yan Jici and Ding Xielin, the first generation of famous physicists in China, followed by Wu Dayou, Wang Zhuxi, Huang Zuqiao and Wang Naiyan. The current chief editor is academician Ouyang Zhongcan, a researcher of the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. With more than 70 years of changes, the Journal of Physics has grown and expanded from its inception, especially since the reform and opening up, showing the outline and context of the rise and development of modern physics in China from one side. Now, the Journal of Physics has become the oldest physics academic journal in China, with the largest circulation at home and abroad, and the most influential area. It has won the general recognition and reputation of the physics community at home and abroad, and has been highly praised by some famous physicists, including Professor Yang Zhenning, the Nobel Prize winner in physics. It is considered as "China's authoritative physics journal", It has established an important position in Chinese sci-tech periodicals.

According to the statistics of China Institute of Science and Technology Information, the Journal of Physics was included in SCI-CD, SCI-E, EI-P, CA, INSPEC, JICST, AJ and MR retrieval systems in 2003. According to the statistics of SCI database, the influence factor of Journal of Physics in 2003 was 1.130, and the total citation frequency was 2410 times. In particular, the statistics show that among the international journals of the same kind in this discipline, the impact factor and total citation frequency are at the upper middle level. Among 68 international comprehensive physics journals, the total citation frequency and impact factor of Journal of Physics rank 23rd and 28th respectively. Among them, the total citation frequency of this journal ranks the first in Chinese physics journals, the first in Chinese scientific journals, and the impact factor is the second in Chinese physics journals.

In recent years, we have continued to take improving quality as the main line to enhance our core competitiveness. We have further accelerated the pace of international integration in terms of the concept of running the journal, academic taste, editorial quality, publication, distribution and publicity, as well as the use of modern information technology. In particular, we should further improve the academic level of the journal. Facing the forefront of international discipline development, the Journal of Physics should rely on the construction of the national knowledge innovation system, track hot topics, strengthen the organization and collection of outstanding contributions, and further improve the innovation, guidance and authority of academic papers. It mainly publishes a batch of outstanding papers with the latest scientific research progress or scientific achievements, such as the national science and technology research projects, the national "863" plan projects, the national "973" basic research projects, and the National Natural Science Foundation projects, which are composed of the national knowledge innovation system. Among the papers published in the Journal of Physics in 2004, 87.5% were funded by NSFC. This shows that the ability of the Journal of Physics to absorb cutting-edge science and high-quality academic papers is constantly improving, which improves the overall academic level of the journal itself.

According to incomplete statistics of relevant departments, the Journal of Physics has been cited relatively many papers. According to the international classification of physics, its academic content mainly involves the theory and model of chaotic systems, quantum optics, fluid mechanics, quantum theory, classical mechanics of discrete systems, black holes, lattice theory and statistics, mesoscopic systems and quantum interference, surface electronic states, polymers Thin films and low dimensional structures, photoelectric effects, solid cluster structures and carbon nanotubes and nanostructured materials, superconductivity, molecular motion theory, emission, absorption and scattering of radiation, spintronics, magnetic entropy changing materials and other research fields, which reflect the hot issues and new directions in current physics research.

At present, about 1700 copies are distributed and exchanged at home and abroad, and the CD distribution volume is about more than 600 platforms. In 2003, 3080 papers were downloaded from the journal website of Southwest Information Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology; In the data of Tsinghua Tongfang, the journal downloaded more than 35800 articles on the web in 2003, and the printed version was cited 2845 times, with a web diffusion coefficient of 12.61 times. Among physical journals, the number of downloaded articles ranked first. The statistics show that the annual index of the Journal of Physics in 2003 is 17.2715, and the web impact factor is 14.4813. In 2003, the total citation frequency and impact factor of this journal ranked the first in physics journals. From 2001 to 2003, the average citation frequency and influence factor of Journal of Physics ranked first in physics journals.

Academician Chen Jia'er, former director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, president of the Chinese Physical Society and president of Peking University, said that the Journal of Physics is a famous academic journal with the highest level and greatest influence in China's physics field. Many of the papers published have reached the international advanced level, and the quality of editing and publishing is high. It is one of the few authoritative high-level journals in China, It has been noticed and praised by experts in the international physics field.

Today, scientific and technological journals have become an important symbol of a country's scientific and technological development and social, economic and cultural progress. It can be seen that in the face of the fierce challenges after China's accession to the WTO, the mission of Chinese journals is more arduous. The times call for the periodical workers to unite with scientists, publishers and information systems to support and cooperate with each other. Under the coordination of the Chinese government and its competent departments, they should jointly create a good environment for the development of China's scientific and technological journals, make positive contributions to the establishment of world-class academic journals, and accelerate the integration of Chinese scientific and technological journals into international academic exchanges.

In recent years, the Journal of Physics has won the first, second and third National Journal Awards, one hundred outstanding journal awards in 2001, 2002 and 2003, as well as many important awards such as the Special Award and the First Prize of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. October 2003, the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Journal of Physics. Zhou Guangzhao, Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, wrote an inscription congratulating him on "being realistic, reasoning and seeking truth". Lu Yongxiang, Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress and President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, wrote the inscription: "Learn from natural resources and be brave to create first-class". The famous scientists who wrote the inscription include Peng Huanwu, Huang Kun, Yang Zhenning, Li Zhengdao, Feng Duan, Chen Jia'er, Li Yinyuan, Huang Zucha, Bai Chunli, Wang Naiyan, Zhao Zhongxian, Yang Guozhen, Li Fanghua, Liang Jingkui, etc. The competent department and the sponsor of the Journal of Physics, as well as some scientific research institutions and colleges and universities, also congratulated them in various ways. All these show that the construction and development of the Journal of Physics has always been highly valued and fully supported by the physics community and all aspects. In addition to Professor Yang Zhenning's above comments on the Journal of Physics, academician Zhao Zhongxian, a famous superconducting expert in China, pointed out that "the Journal of Physics" It is one of the few authoritative high-level journals in China. Most of the papers published are scientific research achievements in a leading position at home and abroad. The review system is strict, the quality of papers is strictly controlled, and the editing and publishing are rigorous and meticulous. "The Journal of Physics is a famous academic journal with the highest level and the greatest influence in China's physics field. It is one of the important journals for academic exchanges and has been attracting the attention and praise of international physics experts. Since its inception 71 years ago, the Journal of Physics has made important contributions to the prosperity of China's scientific industry.".
