Special session of the General Assembly
This is a historic moment, and this is the aspiration of the international community.
On May 10, at the special session of the General Assembly, Palestine was approved to become a new member of the United Nations, with 143 votes in favour, 9 against and 25 abstentions.
China certainly voted in favour. There are 142 other countries standing with China. This overwhelming majority is a strong expression of anger and dissatisfaction of the international community.
Considering the general background of the war in Gaza, this is actually the world beating Israel and the United States.
Who voted against it?
I looked at 9 countries:
Argentina
Czech Republic
Hungary
Israel
Micronesia
Nauru
Palau
Papua New Guinea
U.S.A.
Of the nine votes, one was Israel and the other was the United States. There are still a few votes from the small Pacific island country only from the United States.
Of course, it doesn't make much sense to scold these countries, because I also know that they are often involuntary, and they must have been under strong pressure from the United States.
Oh, Argentina is worth mentioning.
Argentina had always supported Palestine, but after Mile came to power, Argentina's foreign policy changed 180 degrees. Mile himself converted to Judaism and went to the wailing wall to cry bitterly. Naturally, Argentina stood by Israel.
The picture shows President Mile of Argentina in front of the crying wall
The most interesting thing is the abstention vote, 25 votes in total, which are:
Albania
Austria
Bulgaria
Canada
Croatia
Fiji
Finland
Georgia
Germany
Italy
Latvia
Lithuania
Malawi
Marshall Islands
Monaco
Netherlands
Northern Macedonia
Paraguay
Moldova
Romania
Sweden
Switzerland
Ukraine
UK
Vanuatu.
A few observation points.
1. The majority of European countries, except the Czech Republic and Hungary, abstain. Abstaining is also an attitude. Under the pressure of the United States, abstention actually shows dissatisfaction with Israel and sympathy for Palestinians.
2. Among the abstaining votes, we saw Britain, Italy, Canada, and Germany. Because of its historical sins, Germany is almost a country that dare not leave Israel. This time, all of them bravely abstained.
3. After a look, Ukraine also abstained. Ukrainian President Zelensky is a Jew. Because of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine is an American iron pole and naturally stands by Israel. However, on this major issue of right and wrong, Ukraine was rarely sober and abstained from voting.
4. There is also an important European country that neither voted against nor abstained from voting, but directly voted in favour. That is France, France is not ordinary!
The representative of Norway deliberately left a picture of the vote
5. In fact, along with France, many European countries voted in favour, including Ireland, Norway, Belgium and Iceland. I saw that the representative of Norway also left a photo of the vote, and she was proud of this moment.
There were also two dramatic scenes in the voting.
The first scene, After the vote was passed, the whole audience gave warm applause. The Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations, Liad Mansour, raised his hands excitedly to express his gratitude to everyone.
He said: "It is the right way to vote in favour. In the coming years, your country will be proud to defend freedom, justice and peace in this darkest moment."
The picture shows Liad Mansour, Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations
The second scenario, The angry Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Aidan, threw the Charter of the United Nations into a small cardboard box on the spot.
He declared that it is you who are threatening the Charter of the United Nations. Use your hands to feel ashamed of you!
I have to say that Israel is really tough!
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Aidan threw the Charter of the United Nations into a small cardboard box on the spot
For Palestine, there is no doubt that this is a historic moment.
Because of the obstruction of the United States, Palestine is now only an observer state of the United Nations. According to the Charter of the United Nations, if the United Nations wants to admit new Member States, it needs to be recommended by the Security Council before the General Assembly makes a decision.
The United States vetoed the previous Security Council vote.
That's why this special session of the UN General Assembly and this overwhelming majority were held. In fact, the voting result is that the world is saying no to Israel and saying no to the United States.
Many of them are allies of the United States, including but not limited to France, Belgium, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand
America, America, people are scattered. It's really hard to bring the team.
As a result, the issue of Palestine's "joining the UN" has been reviewed by the Security Council.
But we can also expect that the whole world will support something, but in nine cases out of ten, the United States will veto it again.
This is the world now. The world is smiting at the United States and Israel, but Israel has the support of the United States. The United States goes its own way. The international community has no choice but to do nothing, the Security Council has nothing to do, and Palestine is ready to cry
What justice? What freedom?
This is the hegemonic world.

Biden admitted for the first time that American weapons were used by Israeli forces to kill civilians in Gaza
[Text/Observer Qi Qian] On May 8 local time, US President Biden told CNN that if Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered a massive attack on Rafah, the southern city of Gaza, the United States would stop sending weapons to Israel because Israeli forces had used American bombs to kill civilians. CNN said that this was the first time Biden threatened to stop arms shipments to Israel, and also the first time he admitted that American weapons had been used to kill civilians.
When Biden was interviewed, it was revealed that the US government had suspended the delivery of precision guided bombs to Israel last week, including 1800 2000 pound bombs (about 900 kg) and 1700 500 pound bombs.
When asked about this matter, Biden replied: "These bombs and other ways they (the Israeli army) attacked the population center have led to the death of civilians in Gaza." He further pointed out: "I made it clear that although they have not entered Rafah, if they enter Rafah, I will not provide weapons that have been used against Rafah and cities in history."
Biden added that the United States will continue to provide Israel with defensive weapons, including the Iron Dome air defense system, but if the Israeli army's large-scale ground invasion of Rafah begins, the transportation of other weapons will stop because "this is wrong, we will not provide weapons and artillery shells".
However, Biden later said that even though Israeli actions have increased regional tensions, Israeli troops have not yet entered the densely populated areas of Rafah, and the actions against Rafah "have not crossed the red line". He reiterated: "I have made it clear to Netanyahu and Israel's war cabinet that if they really fire in these population centers, they will not get our support."

On the 6th local time, Biden again urged Netanyahu not to continue the large-scale Israeli military attack in Rafah when talking with Netanyahu on the phone. The Biden government has been firmly supporting Israel since the current round of Palestinian Israeli conflict, but is opposed to the Israeli plan to attack Rafah, and has repeatedly persuaded the Netanyahu government to act cautiously, but with little effect.
In the morning of the same day, the Israel Defense Forces announced that they would launch a ground attack on the eastern part of Rafah, demanding that civilians in the area evacuate to the newly expanded "humanitarian zone" in southern Gaza, urging 100000 people in the eastern part of Rafah to evacuate, and warning that the Israeli army would take "extreme force" against "terrorist organizations" in the area. In response, Hamas said that the action was "a dangerous escalation that will have consequences".
According to the Israel Times, on May 7 local time, the Israel Defense Forces carried out ground operations near Rafah, controlling the Palestinian side of Rafah crossing. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs warned that Israel had refused to allow United Nations personnel to enter Gaza through the Rafah crossing, and the "artery" providing assistance to Gaza had been cut off, and humanitarian assistance operations would be in trouble.
CNN believes that Biden's announcement that he is ready to take Israel's action as a condition for the United States to provide weapons is a turning point seven months after the current round of Palestinian Israeli conflict. His admission that American bombs were used to kill civilians in Gaza is a clear recognition of the role played by the United States in this war.
For several months, Israeli leaders have vowed to launch a comprehensive operation against Rafah and bombed Rafah repeatedly, claiming to eradicate "Hamas armed forces there", which has caused the international community to worry about the safety of 1.4 million local refugees. At the same time, the Biden government, which has been firmly supporting Israel, has been under pressure from home and abroad to stop providing weapons and equipment to Israel.
According to Politico, a US political news network, on the 7th, several insiders said that the United States had delayed the delivery of two precision guided bombs to Israel to send a political message that the United States did not want Israeli troops to attack Rafah. A senior US official told the Associated Press on the same day that the bombs suspended included 1800 2000 pound bombs and 1700 500 pound bombs.
On the 8th local time, Miller, spokesman of the US State Department, responded to the incident by saying that the US "has suspended the delivery of a batch of short-term aid materials and is reviewing other aid materials", but declined to disclose the specific aid materials. US Defense Secretary Austin also confirmed that he "blocked the transportation of ammunition to Israel", and said that no final decision has been made on how to deal with this batch of weapons.
Previously, Axios News Network and other US media reported recently that an Israeli official said that the US government had suspended the delivery of US made ammunition to Israel last week. Officials said that the Israeli government was deeply worried about the US action.

CNN also mentioned that the 2024 U.S. general election will begin in November, but in the past few months, the Palestinian Israeli conflict has consumed most of Biden's time. On the same day (8th), Biden tried to publicize his achievements to American voters at a campaign rally.
"We have turned the situation around," Biden said in an interview, trying to reshape people's view of the U.S. economy, touting his efforts to promote employment growth and combat corporate greed, and questioning the survey that shows voters are still pessimistic about the country's development direction. He said that the survey shows that many Americans have a negative view of the national economy, and "the poll data has always been wrong".
According to the latest poll results released by CNN, voters still hold negative views on the performance of the Biden administration on the economy (34%) and inflation (29%). Voters also said that economic issues were more important to them when choosing presidential candidates than in the past two elections.
