Mao Zedong is a great man with great talent, broad vision and great personality. He has been mighty and heroic all his life.

In January 1956, Mao Zedong came to Nanjing by train from Shanghai to inspect the Nanjing Military Academy.

On that day, it was Heping who was on duty. He received a task in advance: check the indoor swimming pool and do a good job in security. Because Chairman Mao came to inspect the college, he might want to see the indoor swimming pool, or even swim here. Therefore, the college has made all preparations in advance.

Chairman Mao arrived in Nanjing accompanied by Chen Yi, Tan Zhenlin and other leaders, and President Liu Bocheng went to the station to greet him in person.

After arriving at the college, Chairman Mao met with the main leading cadres of the college, department, department and professor's committee in the conference room, inquired about the organization and training of the college in detail, and gave important instructions. He said happily, "The Central Committee of the Party sent Comrade Liu Bocheng to be the dean of the Military Academy is a man who knows his people well. I hope that under the leadership of Comrade Liu Bocheng, we can make the Military Academy better and do a better job of training middle and senior cadres of the whole army."

Later, Mao Zedong began to inspect the college with enthusiasm.

When he saw a well-equipped indoor swimming pool in the hospital, he was very happy and said, "Let's go swimming."

He said to swim and immediately went into the water.

As a result, Mao Zedong swam in the swimming pool for more than an hour. In the water, he looked serene and carefree, like walking in a leisurely court. Heping later recalled: "Especially when he was treading on the water, his whole body stood in the water, his legs alternately lifted up and stepped down, while his body did not sink, but moved forward slowly; his head was higher than the water, and he was very relaxed with a smile on his face. ... Although I have long heard that Chairman Mao likes swimming and is also good at swimming, I am very happy and happy to see Chairman Mao's skillful and beautiful swimming style in the room this time, and see his red face and bright face! "

When swimming, Mao Zedong, Liu Shuai and others talked and laughed in the water.

After swimming out of the water, Chairman Mao said to Liu Shuai:

"Deliver my orders, except for the senior general. Both the general and the major should learn to swim. Next year, we will cross the Yangtze River with me!" (I See Mao Zedong p251)

Chairman Mao wants to lead the whole army from general to major to cross the Yangtze River. What a big scene, what a great man's boldness and heroic order!

In the end, Chairman Mao's order was not implemented.

Because at the end of May that year, he could not help coming to Wuhan and had a good swim in the Yangtze River for the first time.

When Mao Zedong swam, the officers did not come. However, when the citizens of Wuhan saw Chairman Mao swimming in the river, they also jumped into the Yangtze River and followed him to fight against the wind and waves. It is said that there were no less than 20000 citizens in three towns of Wuhan who followed Mao Zedong to swim along the Yangtze River that day.

Mao Zedong set a new record in the history of swimming in the Yangtze River.

Chen Guanren and the History of the Communist Party of China Press wrote a book called "The Record of Governance: Mao Zedong and China after 1949" (four volumes in total). This book is the annual best seller of the society and also an excellent classic best seller of national history.
