According to the news released on the website of the President of Belarus on the 23rd, Lukashenko pointed out that there is a clear boundary between the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff when he appointed Mulaweiko. The Chief of the General Staff has a certain degree of independence and is directly involved in the planning and implementation of all military activities.
Mulaweiko previously served as the First Deputy Secretary of State of the Belarusian Security Conference. He also served for a long time as the Director of the General Operations Department of the General Staff and the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, and participated in the preparation and implementation of large-scale military exercises for many times, including joint military exercises with Russia.
