The current international situation seems to be getting out of control for the United States.
Since the wave of "supporting Palestine" started in American universities and swept the world, good news has been coming from the Palestinian side.
First, the United Nations passed the resolution on Palestine's accession to the UN with 143 votes in favour, 9 against and 25 abstentions. Then Turkey stopped all import and export trade with Israel because of "the worsening humanitarian tragedy of Palestine". Then the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court applied for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.
More importantly, The number of countries recognizing the Palestinian State is growing rapidly, and nearly 150 countries have officially recognized it.
Although this is not the behavior of all countries, and many of them are not deeply contradictory or have ordinary relations with Israel, the impact of this trend cannot be ignored. In particular, when Norway, Ireland and Spain announced the recognition of the Palestinian State on the same day, the French side's position undoubtedly made the rift between Europe and the United States public again.
In a statement the same day, French Foreign Minister Stefana Sezurne said: "For France, recognition of the Palestinian State is not taboo." "This decision must be useful, that is, it can promote a decisive step forward at the political level." He added, but the French side believes that now is not the right time to recognize the Palestinian State.
In fact, France's position has been quite clear, that is, they do recognize the Palestinian State, but are just waiting for an appropriate time to make a public statement.
As one of the leaders in Europe, France's statement also implies that most European countries have recognized Palestine. It is expected that in the future, more European countries will join the team supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state and formally recognize Palestine.
From this perspective, Norway, Ireland and Spain are just the pioneers of this trend.
However, a stone stirs up thousands of waves.
Israel reacted violently to this. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately issued a statement saying that Israeli Foreign Minister Katz had ordered the immediate recall of Israeli ambassadors to Ireland, Norway and Spain for emergency consultations, and ordered the summoning of the three ambassadors to Israel, "strongly criticizing" their decision to recognize the Palestinian State.
In response to diplomatic disputes, the recall of ambassadors is regarded as a more serious means, second only to severing diplomatic relations. However, since the Palestinian Israeli conflict, the recall of ambassadors has become Israel's usual threat to unfriendly countries. In March this year, in order to express its dissatisfaction with the "silence" of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, against the suspected sexual violence in the unprecedented attack of Hamas on October 7 last year, Israel even recalled its Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gilad Aidan.
Under the aegis of the United States, Israel has always been fearless, and even international organizations such as the United Nations have not paid attention to it, let alone three small countries. But the problem is that today's international situation has changed significantly, and Israel's actions are tantamount to self denial to the international community.
Since May, the situation in Gaza has become more difficult as a new round of ceasefire negotiations ended fruitlessly. Over the past period, the Israeli army has intensified its bombing operations in several areas in the north and south of Gaza, resulting in a large number of casualties. According to Xinhua News Agency, due to insufficient supplies and unstable security situation, the United Nations aid agencies suspended food distribution in Rafah, the southern city of the Gaza Strip, on May 21. United Nations officials said that humanitarian aid operations in Gaza were on the verge of collapse.
Under the continuous heavy bombing by Israel, three quarters of the buildings in this land of only 365 square kilometers have been completely destroyed and turned into ruins. The war has mercilessly taken the lives of thousands of Palestinians, while the millions of Palestinians who survived were forced to gather in Rafah in the south. They were barely clothed and hungry, living in extreme difficulties, and their lives were in danger. It can be said that Gaza today is like hell on earth.
With the continuation of the war in Gaza, the international community generally believes that the conflict between Palestine and Israel may spread further, especially for Europe, if a statement on the prospects of the Palestinian State is not made as soon as possible.
On the surface, Israel's aim is to annex the whole of Palestine, but in fact, his ambition is not limited to that. After the annexation of Palestine, he will certainly continue to expand, which will lead to the involvement of more countries and further deterioration of the situation in the Middle East. If so, the powder barrel of the Middle East will explode completely, which is quite difficult for Europe.
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has already triggered the energy crisis in Europe. If the conflict in the Middle East, a long-term unstable region, regenerates, it will undoubtedly worsen the energy dilemma in Europe. Moreover, after Putin's recent visit to China, the strategic mutual trust between China and Russia has improved significantly. Once Russia finally fully relies on China, the good days for Europe to enjoy extremely cheap Russian energy, food and markets as before will become history. This may also be one of the important reasons why Europe recognized Palestine this time to express its dissatisfaction with the United States and Israel.
In addition, the conflict will lead to a large influx of refugees into Europe. If Europe does not accept these refugees, it will be blamed by the international community; However, acceptance may be out of your mind, and may even cause turbulence in the social system.
Therefore, Europe knows better than anyone that in this complex international environment, if it cannot achieve strategic autonomy, it will become a vassal of the United States and a "blood transfusion bag", and ultimately become a meaningless victim. To avoid this fate, Europe must fundamentally change its strategy and seek ways to protect itself.
So, looking back at the statements of these three countries and France, it not only shows that the international community is increasingly inclined to resolve disputes through diplomacy and dialogue, but also strongly supports the "two state solution".
It is obvious that the "two state solution" advocated by China has shown its unique wisdom in solving the Palestinian Israeli problem and has become the best strategy to promote global peace. It can be predicted that in the near future, more and more countries will respond to China's initiative and work together to contribute to world peace. We can wait and see.
More importantly, the current positions of the three countries are, to some extent, in the camp against US hegemony. If more and more European countries join this camp, the hegemony of the United States will be seriously impacted and may eventually collapse. At that time, how will the United States compete with China?
If this day comes, it will be the inevitable result of popular support and the general trend. Now, the United States really needs to reflect deeply.
