The boss of my current company told me on the first day of work that the R&D manager in the company was bad tempered, so I had nothing to do. I have met the R&D manager with bad temper, so I asked curiously: "How bad is it?" The boss was embarrassed and said: "Before you, I have recruited several very experienced programmers. Their abilities are all OK, but they can't stand his bad temper!". Listen to the boss, I began to worry!
It has been nearly half a month since I joined the new company. I have hardly talked with the R&D manager, and there is basically no intersection between us, because the development tasks are basically issued by the boss, and only if I can't understand what is in the software framework will I ask the company about other R&D, and I also deliberately avoid the R&D manager, just to avoid conflict with the R&D manager, Because my temper is the kind that people don't offend me and I don't offend!
The boss seems to be afraid of my running. Every day after work, he will pull me to the office alone and ask me how I feel every day! What can I do? I have deliberately avoided the R&D manager!
However, through my observation these days, I found that the R&D manager's temper is really bad. I didn't have no communication with him at all, but I felt a little afraid after several communications. I was not afraid of him, but I was afraid of quitting on an impulse after conflict with him! Because when I joined the company, I made sure that I could stand it!
To what extent does this R&D manager have a bad temper? Here I give two examples, one is my "I don't know how many posts I have before", and the other is me!
A colleague resigned because of anger
Before me, the company recruited a programmer with more than ten years of programming experience. The R&D manager asked him to interface with a third-party interface. This third-party interface requires a high level of industry experience. Although this programmer has a lot of programming experience, his industry experience is still weak. To be honest, as long as someone can tell him the relationship between interfaces, he will be OK.
This matter is difficult to explain at the moment. For example, just like driving a car, the driver of a car has never driven a large truck, so he will appear dull at the beginning, but will soon adapt to it.
As for the problem of weak industry experience, as long as someone in the company can patiently tell him that it doesn't take him a few days to master some business knowledge, plus his own programming ability is not bad, independent development will certainly not be a problem in a week or so!
However, one day, because he did not understand the correspondence of some fields in an interface, he went to ask the R&D manager, but the R&D manager scolded him, and asked him in public: "Aren't you more than ten years of programming experience? How can you not understand the interface!"
The programmer was stunned by the sudden question from the R&D manager, but soon he went back to his work station with red eyes. So far, he didn't say a word.
Then the next morning, the programmer didn't come. He called the boss and resigned because he was incompetent!
Of course, the boss knew what was going on, but he didn't persuade him. After a few polite words, the programmer hung up.
After hanging up the phone, the boss became more and more speechless. Then he took the R&D manager to the office and scolded him. Since then, the R&D manager's temper has finally converged, but even if he has converged, his temper is still very bad compared with ordinary people!
What happened to me
After I joined the company, I pulled down all the company's code. However, I found that there were many package files of external libraries missing in the code. After a long time of trouble, I finally confirmed that these package files were not in the code base.
Then I went to the R&D director to ask for these missing package files. I hope he can send them to the code base or send them to me directly!
I talked to him, but he just knocked the code, and I clubbed for a long time, ignoring me, or another colleague knocked on his desk, and he came back to ask me why.
So I told him about the causes and consequences, but he didn't think so, and said directly to me: "The former employee's computer is next to you, you can open the computer to find it!"
I saw him say so, but also according to his attitude of indifference, so I had to open the computer of my former colleague.
However, after opening the computer, I found that the computer had a lock screen password, so I ran to the R&D manager and asked him for the lock screen password. As a result, he replied to me, "How can I know? Ask XXX if he knows!"
This XXX is actually another colleague. As a result, we have been making trouble for a long time, but we haven't tried out the lock screen password.
The boss just walked by and looked at our colleagues' computers before we were making trouble, so he asked us what we were doing.
I told my boss about the cause and effect, and then the boss called his former colleague and asked for the lock screen password. We searched for the missing package file for a long time, and the boss also stood by to help us.
After work that day, the boss asked me how I felt. I said that I felt a little uncomfortable, but I didn't want to leave like the programmer before me. Moreover, I really need this job now, and I can't afford to leave!
After listening to me, the boss finally put his heart down. Then Ku Kou Po said to me: "XXX is not a bad person, but he can't talk with his head!"
I said to the boss, "I know that if he is really bad, the boss will not keep him until now!"
In fact, I was really uncomfortable at the moment when I was ignored by the R&D manager. However, when I think about what kind of people I haven't seen for so many years in development, there are a lot of such people among programmers!
In addition, I see that the relationship between the R&D manager and other colleagues is good, and I can also see the R&D manager and other colleagues laughing and chatting when they are free. If the boss did not give me a "preventive shot" and this happened to me, in fact, I think the R&D manager is good!
epilogue
Finally, I conclude that this R&D manager is actually a bit of a platoon! As long as I have worked with him for a long time, his attitude towards me will only change, but this person's personality will indeed have a negative impact on the company, at least it will affect the recruitment of the company.
