On May 10, Xi'an, China Central Radio Network (reporter Liu Yu) recently, a full-time teacher from the School of Surveying and Mapping Science and Technology of Xi'an University of Science and Technology reported to the reporter that in January this year, after the final results of the courses he took came out, a parent of a student who did not pass the exam asked the student to modify his grades on the grounds of "affecting the future of the child" and "causing stains", and threatened the teacher in language. The relevant personnel of the college also mentioned that the parent had "background" for many times and asked the teacher to modify the score.
In addition, the teacher also reported that, in order to modify the scores of another make-up student, the college transferred the permission to enter the scores of the course from the system without the teacher's knowledge, and other teachers modified the unqualified scores into qualified scores.
Teachers are required to revise their grades
On May 9, the reporter contacted the teacher Qin Feng (who used a pseudonym at the request of the interviewee) and said: "Since January this year, I have been exhausted. I didn't get a fair answer and a little comfort from the relevant departments. Instead, I became an 'alternative' and 'negative teaching material'. I don't know what I did wrong?"
Qin Feng told reporters that on January 6, 2024, he submitted his professional course examination results. At 11:00 p.m. on January 8, he received a phone call from a parent of classmate Chen, who claimed to be a researcher in a research institute. Because the child is a continuous undergraduate and postgraduate student, his future will be affected if he fails to pass the test, so he asked to revise his score for the child.
In a dialogue recording provided by Qin Feng, the parent said, "I will make it clear that if you fail to pay, I will definitely go to the school to quarrel with you", "I will follow you wherever you are", "I have some relationship with a teacher in your school". Qin Feng said that he was worried about the safety of himself and his family for some time. On the New Year's Eve, I again received a text message from the parents of the students, who questioned that it was too difficult for me to set the questions and mark the papers randomly, and said that I would go to the Education Department to accuse myself.

"The score of this course is composed of two parts, one is the paper score and the other is the usual score. I gave the student 90 points, which is relatively high. But his paper score is 25 points. According to our proportion, the comprehensive score is 45 points." Qin Feng said that he checked the student's test paper at the first time when he returned to school from a business trip on January 10, Make sure you don't give wrong marks.
According to the official website of Xi'an University of Science and Technology, Qin Feng is an associate professor and master's supervisor. The course he teaches is his main research field.
"In those days, I received phone calls and WeChat messages from the academic administrators and leaders of the college, asking them to revise their grades for the student, and mentioned many times that the student's parents were members of the academician team of a research institute." Qin Feng said that although he was not noble, he was absolutely principled. "At that time, he clearly stated his attitude, and the score must not be changed. If you can modify the score at will, it will be unfair to other students who listen carefully and prepare for the exam."
To Qin Feng's surprise, on February 26, the first day of school, 19 students jointly went to the school's educational administration office to report that they would review their scores. It is understood that 72 students took the exam and 38 students failed the exam.

In order to ensure the fairness of the exam, the college has set up a supervision group to review the exam papers. "The result of the recheck is that my questions meet the requirements of the outline, with moderate difficulty and no problem in marking the paper."
Feedback from students (pictures provided by respondents)
A student of the class told the reporter that the examination of this course was moderately difficult. My academic performance was also average. Before the exam, I reviewed the homework and PPT given by the teacher. I passed the exam. There were 6 students in the dormitory and 5 students passed the exam. The student also said that he would grade the teacher at the end of the term, and he praised the teacher's evaluation of this course.
Students' parents reflect teachers' teaching problems
On March 5, the parents of the students came to the school to reflect on the teaching problems of Teacher Qin Feng. For this reason, the school's educational affairs office specially issued a letter on investigating the incident.

"After a day of investigation, it proved that I had no problems in teaching. But I was curious. The information such as the syllabus was internal and private. How did parents know?" Qin Feng also raised his own question.
On May 9, the reporter dialed the parent of Chen. After clarifying the purpose of the call, the parent said that it was "inconvenient to answer the phone while busy". In order to understand the child's performance, the parent said "no need", and then hung up the phone.
According to the school regulations, students who fail in the exam will have the opportunity to take a make-up exam. At the end of March, a notice was issued in the "Working Group of the Institute of Surveying and Mapping": the make-up examination of this semester is planned to start on March 28, and the teacher needs to send and print the test questions at the specified time.
Qin Feng was told that the make-up examination paper of the course he taught would be set and marked by another team leader, and Qin Feng was only responsible for entering the final score. In this make-up examination, Chen's make-up examination results are qualified.
The make-up examination score of the course "disappears" from the input system
Qin Feng thought that the "big stone" in his heart had fallen to the ground. On April 26, the marking teacher of the make-up examination told him that another senior student, Wang, failed in the make-up examination, which might affect his undergraduate graduation and graduate study.
"This time, I still asked to revise my grades, and the students also threatened to jump out of the building. Although I was not a marking person, I just submitted the make-up exam results. To be cautious, I checked the student's scores by the way, and it was OK. At that time, I specifically asked the marking teacher to review the papers again, and the results were OK. Because I didn't read the paper, I would log in as many points as the teacher gave me. " Qin Feng said.

"When I checked the system on the afternoon of April 30, the course was no longer available in my score system." Qin Feng said that the make-up exam score of Wang had been revised to 60 points. "I didn't see the paper. It was probably destroyed."
The college instructor signed and handwritten explanation of student grade modification (the interviewee provided the picture)
Why is it embarrassing to revise the score in the normal exam? Why is the examination result within the reasonable authority of the teacher interfered by many parties? What kind of pressure caused the college to privately revise the student's scores? In response to many questions, the reporter contacted the school publicity department, and the relevant staff told the reporter that the school has set up an investigation team, and other information is still unclear. Journalists will continue to pay attention.
