BBC Monsoon Wonders of the Monsoon
Also known as Wonders of the Monsoon

    Single episode length: 60 minutes

Monsoon (also called monsoon) is a periodic wind, which changes with seasons, and the prevailing wind direction (more than 40% wind frequency) has a seasonal shear of more than 120 degrees. It mainly occurs in monsoon Asia (East Asia and South Asia), Guinea in West Africa and the northern coastal zone of Australia.

The Arabs have long discovered the monsoon and called it Mausim, which means season. In ancient times, Arab merchants used the seasonal variation of wind direction to engage in navigation activities. At that time, people had some perceptual knowledge of the prevailing monsoon here. In the late 17th century, with the increase of European merchants' navigation activities in this area, people observed the monsoon more carefully, thus deepening their understanding of the monsoon. In the late 17th century, E? Halley first proposed the theory of monsoon origin of the thermal circulation between land and sea. With the change of the monsoon wind direction, the weather phenomena such as cloud and rain also change accordingly, so the monsoon is closely related to agricultural production, which has aroused widespread concern. After the end of World War II, due to the accumulation of high-altitude data, the formation of the monsoon has a more profound understanding. It is proposed that the monsoon is the comprehensive influence of land and sea distribution, planetary circulation and topography.

The "Monsoon Wonders" series will lead the audience into the natural world across the Himalayas to northern Australia, and explore how the wildlife and culture there are shaped by the most spectacular natural phenomena on the planet. This series will also reveal how life takes root and sprouts under the climate conditions that cause huge environmental changes on a large area of the earth every year.

This five part nature documentary will describe the unique natural landscape from the Himalayas to northern Australia. The monsoon, the greatest natural miracle on the earth, has shaped wildlife in different regions and bred diverse cultures in different regions. Monsoons change the appearance of this planet every year. This film will show the audience how life survives, multiplies and thrives in cruel climate conditions.
