I have JetPack installed and running on my WordPress.com site. I am in the process of moving to a new provider. I’ve moved most of the site but there are a few areas that are not working right and it looks like that is caused by JetPack (or rather the lack thereof). I can’t get the new site to connect to JetPack. Your documentation for JetPack doesn’t look much like my site – there is no place to enter a wordpress.com account.

To complicate the issue, I have not moved the domain records to point to my new site because its not ready to go live yet. And I haven’t set the SSL records either. So, I need to find my way forward:

    1. Is there some way to enter my wordpress.com account credentials on my new site?
    2. Will it connect without ssl enabled?
    3. Or do I have to point my current domain credentials to the new site first and set up ssl before JetPack will connect and work.

    Thanks

    Les

    Hi @leswoolsey ,

Thanks for contacting us. To address your questions:

    1. To connect your new site to your WordPress.com account, you should see a prompt to “Set up Jetpack” or “Connect to WordPress.com” within the Jetpack dashboard on WP Admin. If you’re not seeing these options, please ensure you have installed and activated the Jetpack plugin correctly: https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/ .
    2. We highly recommend using SSL to make sure Jetpack works seamlessly on your website. A missing SSL certificate could get in the way of your Jetpack connection, which will ultimately affect the different features within the plugin.
    3. It would be much better if you redirected your domain records to your new host before setting up Jetpack as new. Also, it’s encouraged that your site not be in maintenance mode for the Jetpack to work correctly on your site.

Hope this was helpful! Please let us know if you need further assistance or if you have additional questions.

    Hey there, @leswoolsey ,

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!
