To cultivate children's "self-discipline", we do it step by step

My child didn't have a sense of time before. He never finished reading. Once he read the book, he forgot everything. He couldn't hear anyone. He would forget what he should do. When he remembered it, it was too late.

Planning is a very important social ability I have led him in this matter for two or three years, and recently it has finally yielded results.

At the beginning, I taught him to estimate the time spent on each task, recording first and then estimating.

For example, in the first week, he was simply asked to record how long different assignments would take, how long it would take to write a new word well, and how long it would take to write a small volume... Without data to make plans, it was all a slap on the head. Data collection is important.

In the second week, we made a time plan. From what time to what time is available every day, like when he finishes school at 4:00 and starts to wash and sleep at 8:00, it is available for 4 hours every day. What needs to be done during this time? Eat, do homework, play.

OK, I also need time to cook. I can guarantee to eat at 5:30. How do you arrange your time before 5:30?

He will play until 5 o'clock and go upstairs to do his homework. If Dad doesn't work overtime, we will wait for Dad to have dinner together.

According to past experience, homework can be completed in less than an hour. The time before 7 o'clock is at his own disposal. We don't interfere. After 7 o'clock, he wants to learn English from me.

Consider different tasks on different days, and the time of a week will be arranged.

The third week is the first week of implementation. Make adjustments during the implementation process to see what factors affect the implementation of the plan, whether they can be avoided, and if not, how to adjust.

So in the first month of each semester, we are constantly adjusting the learning plan of this semester. When the plan is fixed, we will adhere to the implementation. Because this is his own work, so in the implementation process, occasionally there is a rollover, and we can quickly return to the right track.

But people are always lazy and can't restrain their desire, especially my children, who love reading. They will forget everything after reading.

After going upstairs after school, he always goes to read the book first, He once relied on me to remind him, but why should I remind him? So I bought him a smart speaker and asked him to set his own reminders.

He couldn't remember to set a reminder before. I will remind him: When are you going to do what?

He will look at the current time, and then see how long the homework will take, and then calculate, and tell the speaker to remind him to study in X minutes.

Now I need to remind you occasionally. Most of the time, I can set my own reminders.

Yesterday, when he went out to class after school, he told me that the art teacher asked him to paint and he would pay it after the May Day holiday. He asked me about the time of the May Day holiday and our travel plan. Finally, he asked me to cancel a one-day trip in 5.2 and he would paint.

When he came back from class in the evening, he said he wanted to ride a bike. I showed him the time. It was 6:40, and he muttered to himself: it would take an hour to do homework, and he also had to take a bath. It would only take 10 minutes to ride a bike with full calculation. Forget it, go upstairs.

He sometimes has difficulty balancing between reading and doing his homework.

When I see a good book, I want to read it in Chengdu, but I have homework to write. What should I do?

I taught him to "know what comes first" and asked him to write a sentence on the blackboard in front of his desk: do what you should do first, and do what you want later.

Not to stop you from doing what you want to do, but you have something you should do, One should not only be capricious, but also be responsible.

Especially for boys, you are not responsible. How do you behave, do things and set up your own small family in the future?

So, every day on my way home, I would ask him: How much homework is there today? He will tell me how much it is and how long it will take. When I got home, I also set up a reminder. I did my own thing and didn't worry about him anymore.

Many parents I have met are eager to cultivate self-discipline children. I will give them some tips, but no matter what, I must give them enough time? You can't go back and use it once or twice, and then give it up. What's the magic move?

Self discipline, in the final analysis, means that a person knows what he should do and insists on implementing it. What is manifested is the quality of "self-discipline".

For example, I am not self disciplined, but people around me say I am self disciplined. I just know that I should learn and grow, so I never give up. I know the importance of good health, so I never give up. I also have time to be lazy. I can brush videos, read novels, and have a big meal... But these are all things I want to do. After I finish what I should do, I will do it again, and I know that if I do what I want to do, what will happen to me, and how I should adjust.

Let's all slow down and figure out what to do and how to implement it.
