According to the monitoring of Guangzhou Meteorological Observatory, Guangzhou has reached the level III emergency response standard for initiating meteorological disasters (rainstorm). The Guangzhou Meteorological Disaster Emergency Headquarters decided to start the level III emergency response to meteorological disasters (rainstorm) in Guangzhou from 12:09 on May 23, and asked all relevant units to do a good job in defense according to the provisions of the plan.

The rainstorm warning signals of Yuexiu and Tianhe were upgraded to orange at 11:57 on May 23 by the Guangzhou Meteorological Observatory due to the expected continuous impact of strong thunderstorm clouds. It is estimated that the heavy rainfall in Yuexiu District and Tianhe District will continue in the next 1-2 hours, with a total cumulative rainfall of 50-70mm.

By 12:50 on May 23, Zengcheng had issued a red rainstorm warning signal for sub town streets, and Yuexiu, Tianhe, Huangpu and Panyu had issued an orange rainstorm warning signal for the whole district or sub town streets; Haizhu, Liwan and other areas issued yellow rainstorm warning signals; Huangpu, Zengcheng, Huadu and other districts issued yellow warning signals for thunderstorms and gales. With the development of rain, it is not ruled out that other districts in Guangzhou will continue to issue or adjust early warning signals later.

According to the short-term weather forecast released by the Guangzhou Meteorological Observatory at 11:45 on May 23, as of the release of the forecast, there were thunderstorms in Yuexiu, Tianhe, Liwan, Haizhu, Huangpu, Zengcheng and other areas, with local strong thunderstorms. The rest of Guangzhou was mainly cloudy to cloudy. It is estimated that from 12:00 to 15:00 on the 23rd, it will be cloudy to overcast in Guangzhou, with thunderstorms and heavy rain in some areas. The temperature will be 23 ℃~27 ℃, and a slight southerly wind will blow.
