As the only national, international and comprehensive cultural industry expo in China, and the first comprehensive cultural industry expo certified by UFI in China, China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Expo (hereinafter referred to as "ICIF") has entered a weak year. The 20th ICIF was held in Shenzhen from May 23 to 27.

Since its establishment in 2004, ICIF has steadily improved its internationalization, marketization, specialization and digitalization. With 20 years of development, ICIF has achieved remarkable achievements: the exhibition scale has expanded from 45000 square meters in the first session to 160000 square meters in the twentieth session; The number of offline exhibitors climbed from more than 700 in the first session to 3076 in the twentieth session; The number of participating countries and regions increased from 10 in the first session to 108 in the twentieth session; In recent years, more than 100000 cultural creative products and more than 4000 cultural industry investment and financing projects at home and abroad have been attracted to show and trade on site every year. In the annual "Cultural Expo Convention", many leading enterprises of cultural industry came to Guangdong to show the development style of the industry, give play to the demonstration driving effect, and continue to promote the innovative development of new fields, new formats and new models of culture.

After years of efforts, ICIF has become a vane for the development of the national cultural industry. It is not only the largest, highest standard, most effective and influential exhibition in the field of Chinese cultural industry, but also an important engine to lead the development of Chinese cultural industry, an important platform to promote Chinese culture to go global, and an important window to expand cultural opening up. It is widely known as "the first exhibition of Chinese cultural industry".

Promote the growth and upgrading of cultural enterprises

Turn the clock back twenty years ago. On November 18, 2004, the first ICIF was officially opened in the former Shenzhen High tech Trade Fair, which was launched with a bang. Dafen Oil Painting Village is a participant as well as a beneficiary.

On that day, at the Dafen Oil Painting Village branch venue, 1000 painters wore uniform white T-shirts and performed oil painting, attracting wide attention. "After the ICIF, orders continued to flow from abroad to Dafen like snowflakes." Zhou Feng, honorary president of Dafen Fine Arts Industry Association, recalled that in 2003, Dafen's oil painting sales amounted to 80 million yuan. After the first ICIF was held, Dafen's sales jumped to 140 million yuan that year, breaking the 100 million yuan mark for the first time.

"In the eyes of all people at that time, what the ICIF brought was real gold and silver. The output value of Dafen Oil Painting Village in 2022 was 4.2 billion yuan, which has doubled several times since the first branch meeting." Yang Yanling, director of the Cultural Development Center of Dafen Oil Painting Village, said that driven by the ICIF, the market size of Dafen Oil Painting Village is second to none in China.

Shenzhen Huaqiang Group Co., Ltd. is a culture and technology enterprise group. At the 4th ICIF, Huaqiang Culture and Technology Group, a subsidiary of Huaqiang Group, signed a contract with Iran Saman Costa to jointly build the "Fante Cartoon Animation Park" project in Iran, involving an investment of 80 million euros. Since the 5th ICIF, Huaqiang Group has become the branch venue of ICIF. Shenzhen Huaqiang Digital Film Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Huaqiang Culture and Technology Group, signed a culture and technology industrial park project with Zhuzhou City, with an investment of 5 billion yuan; The group signed a single contract with Zhuzhou City for the Fangte Zhuzhou Theme Industrial Park project, which reached 4.5 billion yuan. With the platform power of ICIF, new business forms represented by Huaqiang Culture&Technology Group have been growing steadily, and "culture+technology" has become a breakthrough for Shenzhen's cultural industry to expand to the high-end.

Expo and trade are the eternal theme of ICIF. It is understood that ICIF organizes and invites many leading enterprises in the national cultural industry, China's excellent cultural industry parks and demonstration bases, key enterprises in the export of cultural products and other exhibitors every year, which has become an annual review platform for the development of China's cultural industry and an important platform for the overall strength of China's cultural industry. At the same time, ICIF is also a wind vane for the development of the national cultural industry. Every year, more than 4000 cultural industry investment and financing projects are organized to show and trade on site. The content of the exhibition and trade in each museum represents the development status and latest achievements of the industry.

In recent years, a number of listed companies in the cultural field have appeared at the ICIF, such as Xinhua Media, Readers Media, OCT, Mango Super Media, Zhongqingbao, Changjiang Media, Huashu Media, Zhongnan Media, Time Publishing, BSTV, Coship Electronics, Songcheng Performing Arts, etc. Poly Culture Group Co., Ltd., China Publishing Group Corporation, China Film Corporation, China International Culture Group Corporation, Shanghai Film (Group) Co., Ltd. and other enterprises that have won the National Top 30 Cultural Enterprises in consecutive years also participated in the Expo for consecutive years, greatly improving the exhibition quality and trading share of the ICIF.

This ICIF event vividly reflects the clear path of transformation and upgrading of Chinese cultural enterprises: "integrated development" has become the common feature of many exhibitors. From low-end to high-end, from product to industry, it has become the common pursuit of cultural enterprises to achieve business type innovation and mode innovation of cultural industry through integration.

Energizing Culture, Prosperity and Development of Guangdong Army

Every year, there is no shortage of OCT-LOFT in the lineup of the branch venues of ICIF. Reviewing the development of the park, ICIF occupies an important node. In May 2006, OCT Creative Culture Park was officially listed during the second ICIF, and officially participated in the process of Shenzhen's cultural development. Since 2012, OCT Creative Culture Park has been selected as the branch venue of ICIF for consecutive years.

"It can be said that our park grew up with Shenzhen's cultural innovation and development, and also witnessed that creative design has become an important part of Shenzhen and even the national cultural industry," said Xu Qian, the operation director of OCT Creative Culture Park. This year, OCT Creative Culture Park, the 13th branch venue of ICIF, will take "Link with" as the theme and bring a series of diversified and open activities, including "Made in Shenzhen - local youth proposal", T Street Creative Market, and the 8th Tomorrow Music Festival.

The rapid growth and continuous participation of OCT Creative Culture Park is another epitome of the 20 years of ICIF.

In the past 20 years, driven by ICIF, a series of branch venues with rich business types have grown up, driven the development of cultural industry parks and bases, formed a diversified cultural industry development business type in Shenzhen, and promoted the agglomeration and large-scale development of Shenzhen's cultural industry. According to statistics, at present, there are more than 100000 cultural enterprises in Shenzhen, with more than 1 million employees; There are 80 cultural industry parks at or above the municipal level in the city, more than 10000 enterprises have settled in, nearly 200000 people have been employed, and more than 15 billion yuan has been taxed.

It is understood that, represented by Dafen Oil Painting Village, Huaqiang Fangte, OCT Creative Culture Park, etc., this ICIF has 52 sub venues and plans nearly 400 exhibition and trading activities with distinctive industrial characteristics, rich cultural connotation, prominent trading functions and high public participation.

Looking across the province, Guangdong's cultural industry has also ushered in new progress and new achievements in the year of ICIF's "rebuilding the weak crown and starting again". Data shows that the total scale of Guangdong's cultural industry has ranked first in the country for 20 consecutive years, and its status as a pillar industry has been further consolidated.

Guangdong is also one of the few provinces in China to achieve full coverage of the cultural industry. The cultural industry system is complete, and the upstream, midstream and downstream industrial chains are complete. In 2023, cultural enterprises above designated size in Guangdong will achieve an operating revenue of 1.34 trillion yuan in core cultural fields, an increase of 10.7%, accounting for 1/8 of the national total; The cultural service industry focusing on content production has maintained rapid growth. In 2023, the operating revenue of enterprises above designated size will be 912.7 billion yuan, up 10%. At the same time, regional coordination and co promotion are in good shape. The Pearl River Delta has joined hands with Hong Kong and Macao to build a cultural industry circle in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and strengthened the radiation, driving, assistance and support to 12 cities in eastern and western Guangdong and northern Guangdong. They have jointly created industrial clusters such as arts and crafts, animation and game equipment, and derivatives manufacturing, and cultivated a number of cultural brands with local charm.
