According to the existing meteorological data and hydrological form, it can be inferred that Zengjiang River and Liuxi River in Guangzhou may have a flood with a return period of 5 to 10 years, and other small and medium-sized rivers may have a flood with a return period of 20 years. The public and relevant functional departments are requested to do a good job in defense.
It is reported that before the "Dragon Boat Water" statistical period came, May 20 saw the "Little Full" solar term. On the day of "Xiaoman", heavy rain occurred in Baiyun, Huadu, Zengcheng and other districts of Guangzhou. Affected by heavy rainfall, the water level of rivers in Guangzhou generally rose on the same day, rising by 1 m to 4.2 m, and the Xifu River in Zengcheng District experienced an over alarm flood. As of the morning of the 21st, the water levels of all rivers in Guangzhou had gradually dropped.
The reporter learned from the Guangzhou Hydrology Bureau that the annual rainfall of the "Dragon Boat Water" statistical period (May 21 to June 20) in Guangzhou accounts for about 20% of the annual rainfall. Hydrological department predicts that this year's "Dragon Boat Water" situation is slightly heavier than previous years. Zengjiang River and Liuxi River may have a flood with a return period of 5 to 10 years, and other small and medium-sized rivers may have a flood with a return period of 20 years.
Hydrological experts remind that the flood control situation of this year's "Dragon Boat Water" is not optimistic. Since the flood season began, heavy rainfall has continued in Guangzhou. The bottom water of rivers, lakes and reservoirs is relatively high, and the soil moisture content is relatively saturated. Relevant departments and the public should pay high attention to the sudden rise of water levels in small and medium-sized rivers, as well as debris flows, landslides and other disasters caused by short-term, highly localized heavy rainfall.
