Record high temperatures in the world's oceans have put most coral reefs at risk.

On May 16 local time, according to NBC, officials from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said that the record high temperature in the world's oceans has put most coral reefs at risk.

Derek Manzello, Coral Reef Observation Coordinator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States, said that in 2023, the climate in parts of the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico will be unusually warm, so that the level of heat stress actually exceeds the range of the existing warning system of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States. About 60.5% of coral reefs in the world have experienced high temperatures that can cause bleaching. Manzello said that since February 2023, coral reefs in at least 62 countries and regions have been albino.
