Samsung Display (SDC) has adopted new strategies to maintain its competitiveness in the face of the increasingly competitive situation in the OLED business field. Recently, the company decided to allocate about 50 internal technicians to the small and medium-sized OLED development department, which aims to strengthen the R&D force in this field. In order to cope with the fierce market competition and technical challenges, Samsung Display also made an important decision, that is, to apply to the Ministry of Employment and Labor of South Korea for special permission to adjust the maximum working hours of key departments such as IT, AI development and Micro project teams to 64 hours per week, which is significantly higher than the maximum working hours of 52 hours per week stipulated in the current labor law of South Korea.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Samsung has adjusted its human resources allocation to promote the development of specific businesses. In fact, since the beginning of this year, Samsung Display has transferred more than 500 R&D personnel from large OLED departments to small and medium-sized departments, further expanding the team size in this field. In addition, employees of relevant departments of Samsung Electronics involved in the adjustment of working hours have signed an agreement to implement the 64 hour working week system. At present, this policy mainly affects the R&D team of the Device Solutions (DS) department responsible for Samsung's chip business, as well as some teams of the Mobile Experience department.
This adjustment not only reflects Samsung Display's sense of urgency in facing industry competition, but also reflects the positive measures taken by the company to accelerate technology research and development and product innovation. By concentrating superior resources and increasing work input, Samsung aims to consolidate its leading position in the global OLED market.
