Syria refuses to accept the report of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons on Syria

Recently, the investigation and identification team of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons released a report that on April 7, 2018, the Syrian Air Force was suspected of using chemical weapons in Duma Town, the eastern suburb of Damascus. In response, the Syrian Foreign Ministry issued a statement opposing and rejecting the conclusions of the report.

On February 2 local time, the Syrian Foreign Ministry held a press conference, at which the Syrian Permanent Representative to the OPCW, Milad Attiya, said that the report issued by the investigation and identification team was dominated and pressured by the United States and other western countries, which was misleading and had political purposes, and its contents were seriously untrue.

At the press conference on the second day, some local doctors and residents said that on the day of the so-called "Chemical Weapons Incident in Duma Town", they had neither seen a significant increase in the number of local patients nor heard of the so-called chemical weapons attack in the local area.

Milad Attiyah, the Permanent Representative of Syria to the OPCW, said that the report of the OPCW investigation and identification team was based on information sources from the United States and other western countries, and even from the statements of extremist organizations and their related personnel in Syria, but ignored the testimony of local witnesses and did not have the most basic professionalism and objectivity. He said that the United States and other western countries used the so-called use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government as an excuse to air raid Syria, which should be condemned, and this report was led and pressured by the United States and other western countries to cover up the crimes of western countries' air raid on Syria.

Attiya also said that while the United States and other western countries are exerting pressure on Syria by imposing sanctions, they are illegally stationed in the northeast of Syria to steal Syrian resources. This behavior is contemptible.
