At first, I saw a friend's circle of friends forwarded by a friend who said that volunteers on GitHub were working for the epidemic in Wuhan, and they participated according to the tips in the article on WeChat public account.
Then one day, I saw an issue on GitHub. A person with the ID of "Yuzi Juvenile" proposed to translate the README of wuhan 2020 into foreign languages to facilitate the whole network cooperation. His issue was responded to one after another.
This person is the initiator of our translation team. His name is Li Keju, and he is a Java programmer.
At the suggestion of Li Yang from the coordination group, I went to Slack to find the relevant person in charge to apply for opening a translation channel, from which we formed the prototype of the translation group.
Later, in order to facilitate communication, I established a WeChat group with the original member YOKI (real name: Huang Siyuan).
In this way, the WeChat group of two people has gradually expanded to 200+people.
Here, I have the honor to know many Chinese volunteers in professional fields who live in different countries on different continents. They have a sincere heart in addition to being good at foreign languages!
In the past more than a month, the three stories that have moved me most are:
1. He was also one of our original members of the translation team. His name was Zhou Zijun. He drafted a copy of "Translation Team - Goals&Task Lines", which clearly combed our translation team from the dimensions of goals and tasks, so we had a work program!
2. There is an Italian friend named Stefano Ciulli, who alone undertook multiple translation and proofreading tasks for the README Italian section of the wuhan 2020 project, the Italian section of the official announcement of the project, and the Italian section of the portal, which made me feel the generous help of foreign friends!
3. There is an article that serves the internal legal information of our translation team. It needs to be translated from Chinese to Spanish. Many legal terms are not simple. Then a small Spanish translation partner in the group brought in his fellow students, and they all translated very well by 7 people!
As the date of resumption of work approaches, many of us will return to our normal jobs, but we will not leave wuhan 2020, the spirit of "dare to think and dare to act" under the spirit of open source, and the spirit guide of volunteers' silent efforts.
Although we are just a group of translators and IT technicians, we are not front-line white soldiers. But we also practice: state-owned "war", call will return!
