The Open Source Society is the first open source organization in China that focuses on open source governance, community development, international integration, and open source projects. We are composed of individual members who volunteer to contribute to the cause of open source. We work closely with communities, enterprises, and government related units that support open source, but we never forget our original intention, maintain manufacturer neutrality, public welfare, and non-profit, Promote and contribute to the mission and vision of open source.
In 2017, Kaiyuan Society transformed into a pure individual member (similar to GNOME Foundation, Apache Software Foundation), and at the end of 2017, all formal individual members elected seven directors to form the Council and Executive Committee (nine working groups: member development, infrastructure, finance, legal affairs, media, copywriting/translation/design, offline activities, community cooperation, university cooperation, etc.), An advisory committee composed of enterprise and community open-source experts, as well as a legal advisory committee.
In terms of open source governance, the Open Source Agency cooperated with OSS Watch, the most famous open source governance community in Europe, and provided the most complete open source governance documents and knowledge base in China, open source license introduction, open source process guidance, and open source license selector automation tools on the official website of the Open Source Agency; We have also set up a legal advisory committee to provide free consulting services on open source governance for the community;
In 2015, 2016 and 2018, we successively released the annual report of China's open source ecosystem, as well as the survey report on the participation of open source communities, to do our best to portray the development image of domestic open source in China.
In January 2016, as the first open source organization in China, the Open Source Agency joined the Open Source Initiative (OSI) as a member of the alliance, and worked with OSI to promote open source software licenses for governance and compliance.
In 2019, he participated in the preparation of the first bilingual international open source license - "Mulan Loose License", which was jointly prepared by the Chinese open source ecosystem. The second version of the license (MulanPSL v2) was strictly approved on February 14, 2020, officially certified by the Open Source Promotion Association (OSI), and was approved as an international license 。

International integration
In terms of international integration, the Open Source Agency adheres to the concept of "bring in, go out" and works with many top international communities, such as the Apache Software Foundation (ASF), AllSee Alliance (OCI), FreeBSD Foundation, FOSS.Asia, GNOME Foundation, Linux Foundation, Node.JS Foundation, Open Source Initiative (OSI), Open Innovation Networks, etc., continue to have close exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad.
We have paved the way for many high-quality open source projects in China to connect, participate in or enter the incubator of international top foundations such as the Apache Software Foundation.

Open Hackathon:
A one-stop open source cloud platform for holding or participating in Hacksong activities. The original Microsoft open source project was officially donated to the Open Source Society in 2018, which is the first project donated by top international enterprises to the Chinese open source community. Intelligent question answering robot "Xiaoyuan":
"Xiaoyuan" is an intelligent question answering robot for epidemic knowledge built by the Open Source News Agency in conjunction with the "Epidemic Warfare 2020" public welfare group, based on the intelligent dialogue platform of the commercial AI team of Microsoft (Asia) Internet Engineering Institute, with the help of the open source Epidemic Warfare 2020 corpus, which can directly ask questions and interact on the background of the "Open Source News Agency" public account.
It is expected that more innovative projects will join the Open Source Cooperative in the future.
Looking forward to the future
We hope to focus on the concept of "open source governance", create a set of open source toolsets including license selection, community operations, online competitions, open source incentives, and strive to promote them to more open source projects.
It is also our mission to empower other open source communities and projects with our experience in open source governance in the form of tools;
At the same time, we are also working hard to prepare for the establishment of the first grass-roots open-source foundation in China in the future.
