In addition to routine software security and performance updates, the following work is mainly integrated
Initial support for Godson 3A4000 processor KVM (kernel based virtual machine) function. In order to obtain better virtualization performance and comply with the trend of "cloud", Godson 3A4000 processor provides new hardware virtualization support. Under the leadership of Dr. Chen Huacai from the Aerospace Longmeng Core Group, the team successfully opened the entire KVM technology chain based on its rich experience in virtualization technology and profound understanding of the Godson processor. During this period, the team encountered many difficulties, such as the lack of debugging tools for KVM Guest, unknown VTLB exceptions, and the cache consistency design of the hardware does not conform to the existing framework. But the roadblocks are paper tigers after all, and they are all disintegrated one by one with the knowledge and patience of developers. Compared with the software based QEMU/TCG scheme and KVM/Tap Emulate scheme, the hardware based KVM virtualization scheme for the whole machine has a performance improvement of hundreds of times, and Godson has thus obtained a ticket to "ride the cloud".
