According to the Asahi Shimbun of Japan on May 20, Ukraine is accelerating the development of UAVs, and the main force of UAV development in Ukraine is the country's private enterprises.

According to the report, there is a place surrounded by cement walls in the suburbs of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. There is no sign hanging, and it cannot be seen from the outside that it is a factory. Inside the iron gate is a two-story mobile house, where employees of Airlogix, a military reconnaissance drone start-up, work for 10-12 hours every day.

It is reported that for the Ukrainian army, reconnaissance drones can help it accurately locate the Russian army in the front line, so as to maximize the offensive effect. Vitaly Kolesnichenko, the founder of Airlogix, called reconnaissance UAVs "eyes" for finding enemies on the battlefield.

At the beginning of this year, Ukrainian President Zelensky signed the presidential decree establishing the "Unmanned System Force" on the ground that the effectiveness of UAVs has been proved in land, sea and air combat. The manufacturing of these UAVs is mainly undertaken by start-ups such as Airlogix that were active in relevant fields before the war.

In an interview with the British Guardian in March this year, Mikhail Fedorov, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation, said that there are more than 200 private enterprises manufacturing UAVs in Ukraine, and the goal set by the government to produce 1 million UAVs annually is expected to be achieved. However, due to the shortage of funds, the number of UAVs that the government can purchase is lower than the maximum capacity of domestic manufacturers. Ukraine hopes to get assistance from Europe and the United States.

The report points out that Russia is also stepping up the production of UAVs. If the Ukrainian army cannot obtain enough UAVs, it may face greater disadvantages in the front line. (Compiled by/Li Ziyue)
