New Theme Lacks Different Badge Colors for Moderators vs. Plugin/Theme Support

Description

The old theme used blue for the Moderator badge, orange for the Plugin Support/Author badge, and purple for the Theme Support/Author badge.

It's important to distinguish moderator replies from others, and having all 3 be the same shade of blue does not offer that visual distinction.

NOte in the above images that the left border is the same color as the tag. In the current "new theme", the left border is black, in all instances. This should be fixed, too.

Is that border color necessary if the badge color is different and clearly distinguishable?

Replying to dufresnesteven :

The vertical border color really helps with visibility too.

I’d say the badge colors are a requirement, and the border colors would be extremely nice to have.

I've reinstated the original colors as the new theme doesn't have enough variety and it limits the change in experience.

I haven't added back the border yet. I think it should be up for discussion.

Personally, I find it distracts from the back-and-forth dialogue that is happening and seems like a feature for moderators and not for end users. If it were to only highlight when a response was considered the best response or represent the most important information in the topic thread I would understand its importance but many times the moderato r or plugin/theme support entries are follow-up questions. I may be missing the use case though. Please advise.

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

I'll close this seeing that the main issue has been resolved. Open a new ticket for the left-hand border if necessary.

Thanks all.

I didn't see a new ticket for the border but I agree that I miss them as a non-mod and they definitely help visually.
