3. Call for Nomination for the Test team Rep Team Rep A Team Rep is a person who represents the Make WordPress team to the rest of the project, make sure issues are raised and addressed as needed, and coordinates cross-team efforts.

  • The call for Nomination for the Test team Rep is open for one more week. If you want to nominate yourself or anyone else, you can do so in the next one week here .

  • Next major release Major Release A set of releases or versions having the same major version number may be collectively referred to as “X. Y” -- for example version 5.2.x to refer to versions 5.2, 5.2.1, and all other versions in the 5.2. (five dot two dot) branch of that software. Major Releases often are the introduction of new major features and functionality. : 6.7
    • We are currently in the WordPress 6.7 release cycle . WordPress 6.7 Beta Beta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. 1 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1. The Road Map post can be found here .
  • Next minor release Minor Release A set of releases or versions having the same minor version number may be collectively referred to as .x , for example version 5.2.x to refer to versions 5.2, 5.2.1, 5.2.3, and all other versions in the 5.2 (five dot two) branch of that software. Minor Releases often make improvements to existing features and functionality. : 6.6.3
    • Following the recent WordPress 6.6.2 release , the next maintenance release (if needed) will be WordPress 6.6.3. There were no updates shared in the meeting.
  • Next Gutenberg Gutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ release: 19.2
    • The next Gutenberg release will be nineteen point two , scheduled for September 11 (this release occurred after the meeting).
  • PDX + WCUS 2024: A Recap: WordCamp US (WCUS), North America’s largest WordPress event, hosted over 1,500 attendees from around the world at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, from September 17 to 20.
  • We had a contributor day Contributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. @ ankit-k-gupta mentioned that a Test Scrub is scheduled every alternate Tuesday in the # core-test channel. He added that if anyone is interested in speeding up progress on tickets related to the WordPress 6.7 release and wants to lead a test scrub, support and assistance would be provided.

Reproduction Testing 🔁

Who?  Any contributor.
Why?  It is helpful to show an issue exists for other users in order to move a ticket forward for patching.

The  following new tickets  are awaiting review, and need testers to attempt to  reproduce the reported issue  (aka “repro”), and then provide a  reproduction test report  with the results:

Who?  All contributors (not just developers) who can set up a local testing environment.
Why?  It is necessary to  apply proposed patches  and test per the  testing instructions  in order to validate that a patch fixes the issue.

The  following tickets  have been reviewed and a patch provided, and need testers to  apply the patch and manually test , then provide feedback through a  patch test report :

Who?  Any QA or  PHP PHP PHP (recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) is a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. http://php.net/manual/en/intro-whatis.php .  developer contributors who can (or are interested in learning how to) build  automated PHPUnit tests .
Why?   Automated tests  improve the software development feedback  loop Loop The Loop is PHP code used by WordPress to display posts. Using The Loop, WordPress processes each post to be displayed on the current page, and formats it according to how it matches specified criteria within The Loop tags. Any HTML or PHP code in the Loop will be processed on each post. https://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop .  for quality and backward compatibility.

The  following 6.7 tickets  need  PHPUnit tests  built to accompany their respective patches:
