Meguiar launched compact package UFS, helping the design of next generation smart phones with larger capacity batteries

On February 28, Beijing time, Micron Technology announced that it would begin to send samples of the enhanced version of the Universal Flash Memory (UFS) 4.0 mobile solution, which has a breakthrough proprietary firmware function and uses a compact UFS package (9 x 13mm). Based on the advanced 232 layer 3D NAND technology, Meguiar UFS 4.0 solution can achieve 1 TB capacity. Its high-performance and end-to-end technological innovation will help flagship smartphones achieve faster response speed and more sensitive use experience.

The sequential read speed and sequential write speed of Meguiar UFS 4.0 are 4300 MBps and 4000 MBps respectively, doubling the performance [[1]] of the previous generation products, providing a better experience for data intensive applications. With high-speed performance, users can quickly start common productivity, creativity and emerging AI applications. The loading speed of large language models in generative AI applications can be increased by 40% [[2]], providing a smoother use experience for users to talk with AI digital assistants.

Compact packaging design lays the foundation for ultra-thin energy-saving smart phones

Since the launch of the 11mm x 13mm UFS 4.0 solution in June last year, Micron has further reduced the size of UFS 4.0 to achieve a more compact 9mm x 13mm managed NAND package. The smaller size of UFS 4.0 brings more possibilities for the design of the next generation of folding and ultra-thin smart phones. Manufacturers can use the space saved to place larger capacity batteries. In addition, the new UFS 4.0 solution can improve energy efficiency by 25% [[3]], so that users can get a longer life when running high power consuming applications such as AI, AR, games and multimedia.

Meguiar's proprietary firmware innovation further improves the mobile flash memory standard

This enhanced version of UFS 4.0 is based on the UFS 4.0 product mass-produced by Micron last year, which can provide a number of proprietary firmware update functions, including:

·High performance mode (HPM): This proprietary function improves the performance of smart phones during intensive use by prioritizing key tasks rather than background tasks. ·Partition UFS (ZUFS): Meguiar UFS 4.0 now supports the host to specify different data storage areas to improve the long-term use experience of the device. ZUFS can effectively deal with the phenomenon of write amplification.
