The electrification of everything promotes the wide application of silicon carbide (SiC) technology in medium and high voltage applications such as transportation, power grids and heavy vehicles. In order to help developers deploy SiC solutions and quickly promote the development process, Microchip Technology introduced a 3.3 kV XIFM plug and play mSiC grid driver using the patented Augmented Switching technology. The drive is configured with pre configured modules and can be used out of the box, which can significantly shorten the design and evaluation time.
This highly integrated 3.3 kV XIFM Plug and Play Digital Grid Driver can be used with SiC based high-voltage power modules to simplify and speed system integration
In order to speed up the product launch, this plug and play solution has completed the complex development work of gate driver circuit design, testing and verification.XIFM digital gate driver is a compact solution with digital control, integrated power supply and a solid optical fiber interface that can improve noise resistance. The grid driver has a preconfigured "on/off" grid drive curve that can be customized to optimize module performance.
It has 10.2 kV primary to secondary enhanced isolation, built-in monitoring and protection functions, including temperature and DC link monitoring, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), overvoltage lockout (OVLO), short circuit/overcurrent protection (DESAT) and negative temperature coefficient (NTC).This grid driver also meets the important specification EN 50155 for railway applications.
Clayton Pillion, Vice President of Microchip's Silicon Carbide Business Department, said: "With the continuous development of the silicon carbide market and the breakthrough of higher voltage limits, Microchip has launched turnkey solutions such as 3.3 kV plug and play mSiC grid drivers, which makes it easier for power system developers to adopt broadband gap technology.Compared with traditional analog solutions, this solution can shorten the design cycle by 50% by pre configuring the grid drive circuit. "
Microchip has more than 20 years of rich experience in the development, design, manufacturing and support of SiC devices and power solutions, and can help customers adopt SiC easily, quickly and confidently.Microchip's mSiC products can provide the lowest system cost, the fastest time to market and the lowest risk.Microchip's mSiC products include SiC MOSFETs, diodes, and gate drivers with standard, modification, and customization options.
