Operation method
The vertical load mainly produces downward pressure in the wall, and the lateral force produces horizontal shear and bending moment in the wall. Because this kind of wall has a large capacity to withstand horizontal force (horizontal shear), it is called shear wall. The so-called "general shear wall" refers to the shear wall whose ratio of the height (length) of the wall section to the wall thickness is greater than 8. The "short leg" shear wall still belongs to the shear wall structure system, but the short leg shear wall is used (the short leg shear wall refers to the shear wall with the ratio of the height of the wall section to the thickness of 5~8), and usually T-shaped, L-shaped, etc. When the ratio of the section height of these wall limbs to the wall thickness is less than or equal to 3, it is close to the form of a column, but not a square column, so it is called "special-shaped column". Therefore, in a broad sense, this structural system should be called "short leg shear wall tube (or general shear wall structural system)".
