The flow direction of Henan Province mainly has two directions: the north flows to the Yellow River, and the south flows to the Yangtze River.
The Yellow River in the north flows through the northwest of Henan Province, mainly through Luoyang, Jiaozuo, Anyang, Xinxiang, Puyang, Xuchang, Luohe and other places. The Yellow River is the second longest river in China and one of the largest rivers in China. Its water source is located in Qinghai Province, flowing through nine provinces and finally flowing into the Bohai Sea. The drainage area of the Yellow River in Henan Province is about 42000 square kilometers, accounting for about 15% of the total area of the province.
The Yangtze River in the south flows through the south of Henan Province, mainly through Nanyang, Xinyang, Zhumadian and other places. The Yangtze River is the longest river in China and the third longest river in the world. Its water source is located in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, flows through 11 provinces, and finally flows into the East China Sea. The drainage area of the Yangtze River in Henan Province is about 18000 square kilometers, accounting for about 6% of the total area of the province.
In addition to the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, there are some small rivers in Henan Province, such as the Ru River, the Ying River, the Fu River, and the Wei River, whose water flows mainly to the north or south.
