Operation method
First of all, phentolamine is an α adrenergic receptor blocker, which has effects on both α 1 and α 2 receptors, can antagonize the effects of adrenaline and norepinephrine in blood circulation, expand blood vessels and reduce the resistance of surrounding blood vessels.
Secondly, phentolamine has an antagonistic catecholamine effect and is used for the diagnosis and treatment of pheochromocytoma, but it has little effect on the blood pressure of normal people or patients with essential hypertension.
Phentolamine can also reduce peripheral vascular resistance, reduce cardiac afterload, decrease left ventricular end diastolic pressure and pulmonary artery pressure, and increase cardiac output, which can be used to treat heart failure.
Finally, phentolamine has a cholinergic effect and stimulates gastrointestinal smooth muscle. It has histamine like effect and increases gastric acid secretion.
