A prequel series, Welcome to Delhi, will be produced in The Clown Returns. HBO Max has officially given the play a green light to expand the world described by Stephen King. The play is set in the 1960s, involving the origin story of the clown Penny Wise. Developed by film creators Anders Moschetti, Barbara Moschetti and Jason Fox, Fox acted as the screenwriter and co operator, and Anders Moschetti directed multiple episodes.
The 2017 movie Clown Returns was set in 1989, when children disappeared in succession in Delhi Town. Under the shadow of terror, a group of children explored the truth in groups. They found that the evil devil clown would appear every 27 years to suck the life energy of children. The 2019 sequel tells about the growing up "loser league" fighting with the clown again, and the two films have grossed more than 1.1 billion dollars at the global box office.
