The speed is regulated by the gear of the headstock. The speed of the headstock can be adjusted by moving the handle outside the headstock, and the speed of the tool feed can be adjusted by moving the handle outside the feed box. In the boxes of each handle, the speed is changed by pulling the gear to slide axially on the fixed shaft.
The lathe speed is usually used for cutting work, and about 40m/min can be selected for cutting carbon steel (40 divided by 3.14 divided by diameter). The feed rate is the tool feed speed (feed speed)
