Stellantis shocked to announce that Ram will launch its first electric pickup truck in 2024. It is called 1500 BEV and will be Ram's response to the Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer and Ford F-150 Lightning. At the same time, Ram is expanding its combustion power product line through the new 1500 BackCountry Edition.
BackCountry Edition, which debuted at the Chicago Auto Show, is based on the popular 1500 Big Horn and the Texas only Lone Star interior, and is equipped with additional equipment, enhancing the ability of trucks for owners with an active lifestyle.
As a standard configuration, the 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition is equipped with 18 inch black wheels and painted in gray and black.
Other visual improvements that make BackCountry Edition unique include black exhaust pipe, headlight frame, rear-view mirror and pedal, as well as grille and trunk lid in the same color as the body, making the appearance of the truck more solid.
In order to improve the off-road capability of pickup trucks, BackCountry Edition is equipped with 4x4 Off Road Group kit as standard, including towing hook, front suspension anti skid plate, transfer case, power steering and fuel tank, rear electronic lock axle, and shock absorber for off-road, downhill control and all terrain tire adjustment. The Bed Utility Group is also included as a standard configuration. It adds an upper adjustable tether, a bed extender (only applicable to RamBox), an expandable bed step, bed lamp and spray bed lining.
Internally, the 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry features a black interior and bucket seats, and is equipped with a 7-inch touch screen. The BackCountry badge on the dashboard lets everyone know that this is not an ordinary Ram 1500, and it is equipped with all-weather Mopar floor mats as standard.
The 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry can be ordered in 4x4 Quad and 4x4 Crew Cab configurations with a 5.7L V8 or 5.7L V8 engine and eTorque mild hybrid assist.
Sales of the 2022 Ram 1500 will begin in the third quarter of 2021, starting at $40085 (plus a destination fee of $1695). In contrast, Ram 1500 Big Horn and Lone Star start at $37290.
