1. The Vietnam National Men's Football Team is the representative football team of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Previously, it was French Indochina. Later, after World War II, it split into North Vietnam and South Vietnam. Football in both places was introduced from France.
 2. South Vietnam scored higher than North Vietnam in football and won the Asian Cup in 1956 and 1960.
 3. North Vietnam only played a few games with other communist countries in the 10 years from 1956 to 1966.
 4. After the reunification of Vietnam, after years of war, Vietnam did not participate in international events until 1991.

As a result, Vietnam's national team defeated the Western Asian champion, the United Arab Emirates, 2-0 in the first game, and drew with Qatar in the second game.

 7. Although Vietnam lost to Iraq in the quarter finals, they still broke the embarrassing situation that Southeast Asian countries were not qualified for the knockout stage for many years.
 8. In the 2019 United Arab Emirates Asian Cup, Vietnam team reached the top 8 again.
