1. Constrictive pericarditis is a disease in which the heart is surrounded by a dense and thick fibrous or calcified pericardium, which restricts the filling of the ventricle in the diastolic period and produces a series of circulatory disorders.
2. Constrictive pericarditis is secondary to acute pericarditis. Tuberculosis is still the most common cause in China, followed by acute nonspecific pericarditis, purulent or traumatic pericarditis. It can also be caused by heart surgery and mediastinal radiotherapy.
3. The common symptoms are dyspnea, fatigue, anorexia, abdominal distension or pain.
4. Early pericardiectomy is the basic method to treat constrictive pericarditis.
5. This disease can cause pericardial effusion.
6. Through active treatment, the general effect is acceptable.
