In April 2001, the State Council decided to merge the State Administration of Quality and Technical Supervision with the State Administration of Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine to form the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ for short).
2. The new mandatory product certification system came into effect on May 1, 2002.
3. In accordance with China's WTO accession commitment and the principle of reflecting national treatment, the state uses unified marks for compulsory product certification.
