1. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is one of the basic laws of the United Nations.
2. On December 10, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 217 A (II) and promulgated the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

After the promulgation of this historic Declaration, the General Assembly requested all Member States to publicize it widely and "disseminate, display, read and elaborate it mainly in schools at all levels and other educational institutions, regardless of the political status of a country or territory.
4. As the first international document on human rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights laid the foundation for the practice in the field of international human rights and had a far-reaching impact on the people of the world to strive for, safeguard, improve and develop their own human rights.
5. On December 10, 2018, the symposium to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was held in Beijing.
