1. Wislawa Szymborska (1923-2012), a Polish woman writer and an outstanding translator, translated many excellent French poems into Polish and won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1996. His poems are called "with unusual and tenacious purity and strength".

3. She was the third poetess to win the Nobel Prize for Literature (the first two were Gabriela Mistral of Chile in 1945 and Nelly Sax of Germany in 1966), and the fourth Polish writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.
4. Simpolska wrote 20 poetry collections in his life, and published about 400 poems. His creative career lasted from the 1950s to 2012. He is the most popular poet in Poland.

6. He died of lung cancer in February 2012.
