The mother tree of Dahongpao in Wuyishan has been at least a thousand years. There are three and six mother trees in Wuyi Mountain, which has a history of more than 360 years. Dahongpao belongs to Oolong tea, a semi fermented tea. It is a rare variety of Oolong tea and one of the top ten famous teas in China. The only six Dahongpao mother trees in Wuyishan are basically not sold.
1、 History of Wuyishan Dahongpao Mother Tree
The mother tree of Dahongpao in Wuyishan has a history of at least 1000 years. As one of the "main natural landscape" and "cultural relics landscape", Dahongpao mother tree is an important part of the "world cultural and natural heritage" of Wuyishan, Fujian. In May 2006, Dahongpao mother trees began to implement the special protection management of "stopping harvesting and reseeding". It is no longer used to make tea, and the final products are collected in the Forbidden City.
Dahongpao mother tree is a cluster of tea with thick leaves and reddish buds. In the past, every spring tea picking season was composed of experts and technicians, with an annual output of less than one kilogram. It has been a royal tribute since the Yuan and Ming dynasties, but since 2006, the state has stopped picking Dahongpao mother trees.
