1. Lu Yang, born in Beijing in 1979, graduated from the director department of Beijing Film Academy in 2007. He is a male director, screenwriter and director of Liberty Cool Whale Film in mainland China.
2. In 2010, he won the KNN Award of New Wave Unit of Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, the Best Film Award of Kazan Film Festival in Russia, and the Best Director's First Work Award of China Golden Rooster Film Festival with his first film directed, The Blind Cinema.
3. The second film, RV Adventures, completed in 2012, was shortlisted for the Window of Asia unit of the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.
4. On August 7, 2014, he directed his third film work, Embroidering Spring Knife, and won the 16th Huading Award for Best Emerging Director.
5. In the same year, Free Cool Whale Film was established.
6. In July 2017, he directed his fourth film, Embroidering Spring Knife: Shura Battlefield.
7. On August 28, 2020, he directed the film Vajrayagawa.
