1. Nanjing Medical University is a university co built by the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and a high-level university in Jiangsu Province, a national "double first-class" construction university, a class A construction university of the Jiangsu High level University Construction Summit Plan, and a training base of the "333 Project" of the Jiangsu High level Talent Training Plan, Founding member of the Yangtze River Delta Medical Education Alliance.

3. The school was founded in 1934, when it was called Jiangsu Provincial Medical and Political College, and changed its name to National Jiangsu Medical College during the Anti Japanese War.
4. In 1957, it moved from Zhenjiang to Nanjing and was renamed Nanjing Medical College.
5. In 1962, it was listed as one of the first six year medical colleges in China.
6. In 1981, it was approved as one of the first units to confer doctor's and master's degrees in China.
7. In 1993, it was renamed Nanjing Medical University.
8. As of November 2022, the official website data shows that the school has Jiangning Campus, Wutai Campus and Lianyungang Campus of Kangda University. The school has 19 colleges and 25 undergraduate majors.
