1. Aristolochia delis Sieb. etZucc, also known as water horse fragrant fruit, snake ginseng fruit, triangular grass, and autumn wood fragrant pot, is named in Chinese because its mature fruit is like a bell hanging under a horse's neck.
2. Aristolochia is a perennial twining herb.
3. Its root, stem and fruit are all called Aristolochia. Aristolochia has the effects of clearing the lung and reducing qi, relieving cough and asthma, clearing the intestines and eliminating hemorrhoids. Its stem is called Tianxian vine, which has the effects of regulating qi, removing dampness, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain. Its root is called Qingmu incense, which has the effects of promoting qi, relieving pain, detoxification and swelling.
4. On October 27, 2017, the list of carcinogens published by the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization (WHO) was preliminarily sorted out for reference. Plants containing aristolochic acid were included in the list of Class I carcinogens.
5. In 2020, due to strong hepatorenal toxicity, aristolochia was deleted from the newly released Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2020 Edition) and no longer included.
